More Really Wild Boar news, along with the usual holiday in the Pyrenees spot prize at Pyrenees Haven we are also offering a 3 night break. The 3 night break is a unique prize for those doing both Really Wild Boar (19/12)and The Stoop (20/12), the winner has to predict their combined Really Wild Boar and Stoop time, the winner is the closest to their predicted time.

    Good luck, Debbie.

Be careful Wharfee ~ best not take your sumo suit as it can be really wild at Really Wild Boar. I did it a couple of years ago and nearly got blown off the top. Make sure you go to the pub afterwards ~ there's a really wild roaring fire. Enjoy.

Massive thanks to Gary, Debbie, and all the other marshals and helpers today.

It was pretty windy on top, so much so that if you we're slipstreaming someone you'd end up running into the back of them as they ground to a halt due to a massive gust of wind!

Well that was fantastic, so glad I went. What a great race. Back of a van, £4, great tea and cake after for which many thanks.

Many thanks to Gary, Debbie, the marshalls, support and all involved.

Can't wait for the next one.

Also on track to hit my predicted consolidated times for this and Stoop

PS I have found my bucket drop knicker elastic tokens I lost pre race so please let me know where to post them? Very sorry about that!!!

Great race as usual. Loved the knicker elastic tokens. And the candle-lit pub. Top day out for four quid!

Really wild boar can be full of surprises and this year was no exception, in fact we had what must've been a fellrunning first....

A few years ago we ran in knee deep snow for the majority of the route, following the blood stained path that the front lads had made with lacerated shins.

The following year we could hardly keep upright, such was the power of the wind...the wind today was simply a mire breeze in comparison.

So what happened today that was surely a first time on the fells?.....125 fellrunners ran with Knicker elastic wrapped around their wrist sporting two check point chits. Will dibbers now become a thing of the past, are knickers the way forward...where the knickers used?....probably better not knowing.

The race itself has a truly brilliant descent, which more than makes up for the stone path encountered on the early climb. Once we hit the fell proper its great terrain with fantastic views over the steep drops on the left up towards the summit cairn, check point one, take off one pair of knickers and hand over to fell legend Gary Devine.

Now the fun really begins...the beltin descent. It's so fast and runnable I feel like laughing and screaming like a kid. If you get a decent route off nearly all the rocks can be avoided and my face plant in the soft, wet moor was actually enjoyable.

The second Knicker drop, sorry check point, is at the bottom of the fell and it's then a fast run in back down the outward stone track....where a brew and a piece of cake await all the runners.

Many thanks to Debbie and Gary. Also thank you to all their helpers, it was family affair with Debbie's mum helping out even though it was her birthday...we all sang happy birthday at the presentation but the birthday cake candles were not blown out, they had a job to do! The pubs electric had gone off and it was presentation by candle light...very romantic, even in the presence of sweaty fellrunners.

Well done M Nixon and H Dent on their wins... them trophies are fantastic.
