    Trigger Information

    1) The Start is 8.30am. Registration will open at 7.15 am and close at 8.15am. (DO NOT BE LATE AND EXPECT TO BE KITCHECKED, most of us are doing the race and will need to get ready ourselves)
    2) Procedure at Registration:
    a) Fill out a Registration slip with your name and Emergency Contact details
    b) Take the slip and your kit to KIT Check
(You are signing to say you know what the kit list is, do not turn up with out everything on the list as you will be turned away)
    c) Get Kit checked
    d) Take the slip to REGISTRATION DESK and collect your number

    3) The MINIMUM Kit List is the same as on the website
Kit to be worn or carried:
Full waterproof jacket and bottoms (with taped seams and hood),
    long sleeved top,
    suitable footwear,
    torch (head or hand held),
    emergency bag or blanket,
    hat and gloves,
map (the Dark Peak map which just excludes Marsden is acceptable) compass (Sliva type) ,
whistle and some emergency food is the minimum kit.

Forecast is 1-2 degrees on the tops with 30-40mph westerly. this means sub zero temps with Windchill!!

PS Have fun and I'll see you all tomorrow on kitcheck

There is a slightly different route every year dropping down sliddens, it takes you to a different stile (one of three) to cross a fence to stop a permanent path forming on reseeded ground, it adds no distance on at all. this section is always marked and must be followed.
Talking to Nicky today there are no restrictions on Blackhill this year so just take your best line.

Here is a link to some snaps of todays race. Kudos to you all. Sad to see a German (I think) chap who had a minor crash on Holme Moss and was unable to compete.

    Fine weather

Just a bit different from William Clough's snaps. Same race?

They don't show the harshness of the first part. Someone commented on the fact that I'd chosen an "easy" place as they went by. Totally agree! Just can't get there in time with dog walk first.

Despite my cock-up on Bleaklow where I displayed an inability to distinguish North from South on the compass (I think I may have held it upside down ) it was yet another great day out. Thanks to all involved.

Great result Nic. You're making this 'winning tough races in bad weather in the Peaks' thing a habit! Any news on other Peninnies?

it was pretty nice weather from Crowden onwards - headwind excepted.

Lee was 7th, StevieK 9th, Wardy 18th and MIllsy in there somewhere. Dark peak with SPyke, Dave Taylor and Dave Lund in 4,5,6 took the team prize, but some hasty arithmetic meant the Pennine team got a prize as well (was it 3 or 4 person?)

NIcky won the ladies from Sally Fawcett and Nicola Parkin (I think).

Thinking of charging DP rent for use of my trophy shelf
