You have more chance of Joliver Jim running this as her 1st fell race

    Hello Peeps!!

    To answer a few questions.
White Holme Circular fell race 10-30am start Sunday 28th Jan
The route is a shortened version of my 3 peaks training route from home. It was first run in 1998 (and 1999) from The Gale Inn, with a slightly longer (15 mile) route.

    Course map HEREhttp://www.ogdenwater.freeserve.co.uk/

There will be NO marshals, NO checkpoints, NO refresment stations, NO mile markers. It is a serious Winter challenge. You are on your own.

I would really appreciate anyone offering to gather the flags in after the race has done, which will be at about 2-30pm. I'm only flagging the first/last 2 miles. It would save me a load of work on Monday.

    Now then.
The book says 1200 ft climb in 12 miles. Please pay attention....

We measured the course with memory map and it came out at 1200 ft.
I wondered how that could possibly be when according to the contours on the map, there's only an 800 ft difference between the Summit Inn (and the canal) and The White House Inn.

It goes up to the WH the same way as the Summit fell race (4m/800'). So I sent the fixture in to the FRA calendar with a profile of 12 miles and 800ft.
It was rejected as it didn't have enough climbing in order to be classed as a fell race (the requirement being so many feet of climb per mile).

I lied and resubmitted it. You have a race. Take it or leave it.

Me and Chris went round the course last Sunday, not hanging around, in 2 and a bit hours. The course is VERY exposed to the wind. By the end we were pretty glad to get back and out of it.
FULL WATERPROOF AND WINDPROOF JACKET AND OVERTROUSERS, HAT AND GLOVES AS STANDARD KIT. NO KIT - NO RUN. NO EXCUSES
PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP WITHOUT THIS KIT AND BE DISSAPPOINTED.

Cheers, and see you on Sunday then,
    SM

Not one of your better posts Stringman, I fear! You'll look well if you don't get your race registered next year. Hope I enjoy it this year.
