Lothersdale and Stef didn’t run
Well done DT.
Could you please do a chopsticks style report?
Good point. The anti-EU vote is quite diverse. UKIP was previously right of the conservative party. But recently UKIP has been trying to appeal to Labour voters.
It would be nice to get some sort of view of where Brexit party candidates stand on the political spectrum. There are certainly some fairly unsavoury types and those who have expressed very dubious opinions previously. Having said that, if I ever stood for election, I'm sure I've expressed enough opinions on here to end many political careers.
And I agree, I don't think you're far-right. But WP and Oracle are. [I'm joking]![]()
Oracle seem to be a very complex mix of both. But then any centerist like me would be as well.
In an earlier post somebody described me as a Corbynism, don't know where they got that from I despise him, with a passion. I hold him singularly responsible for brexit. A labour leader like a pre-gulf war Tony Blair would have swung the referendum to remain.
They clearly thought (and presumably were advised) that this was the best approach. I think generally politicians want to run positive campaigns, but are advised about how successful negative campaigns usually are.
I think they underestimated the degree of animosity towards the EU. They were probably also surprised that so many of their colleagues actively promoted the leave cause.
Given this, I don't think they could have swung it with a positive campaign.
Meanwhile Brexit Party now on 30% in latest opinion poll for the European elections.
