You dont give people much credit do you travs?
Boris is taking his advice from people eminently qualified to give it.
The chief medical officer and chief scientific officer will have looked at this and concluded that the additional exposure and protection it affords if any is minimal. The necessity of freight getting through is paramount. Provided of course that those returning home (they largely are repatriations of brits abroad) are indeed social distancing as we are all decreed to do.
You appear to think they have not even thought of it.
There is too much second guessing.
I admit to believing that are response was wrong, that it was already prevalent much sooner, and we should have locked down over 70s and vulnerable, let it burn out in the general population.
But I am happy to accept those in charge have a plan and are sticking to it, the problem has been people are not. We owe to those in charge to keep to the plan.
I am also uneasy about the attitude of country folk rather than government. The lakes and wales clearly have infrastucture capable of supporting 5 times the number of people generally there in March. So people leaving areas which are 1 million people to a square mile, with empty supermarkets, to head to those with population only 10000 per square mile with at least some stuff in shopes is clearly increasing average social distance and averaging pressure on resources. Indeed, averaging the numbers exercising in the same places needs evening up. So more on lakes hills and less in london parks is clearly better social distance. The hills do not belong to the locals. They belong to all.
They are not as they are branded "covidiots" other than the ones gathering in groups in parks and on bondai beach!
But even that has a cautionary tale. Having once lived in a windowless box in London, and suffered with depression because of lack of sunlight, you survive mentally by spending time in the green spaces. The police moving people on for sunbathing in parks who were social distancing is my view unreasonable, unless we want a stream of suicides.
Those living alone, now with loss of job, who cannot buy stuff, because of lack of money , who cannot socialise and not allowed out of the windowless boxes even to sit in a park, will end up taking an "easy way out" because of no hope.
For all that, In my view all should go with the advice and stop questioning all the decisions as though the ones in charge were idiots.
hey are not. If stopping the flights helped, and if there were not an obligation to allow UK residents to return, and if the flights carried no useful freight they would have stopped them long ago. How do people think the 1000000 face masks we need will arrive? Answer. on one of the planes he criticises! Rather than wait for a month for a ship to come from china.
None of this is simple.
