A little known one, but The Swaledale Marathon. Simply stunning.
My three would be:
Lake District Mountain Trial - I love the navigational events; if mountain marathons counted I would probably put the now extinct Highlander Mountain Marathon and the original RAB MM, but will settle for LDMT instead
Teenager with Altitude - for me this has the best running in the Lakes
Shutlingsloe - have always had a great day out there, and such a perfect viewpoint for the race
"And the winds blow and the sky looks cool / So I make my home in the clouds"
You can't beat the buzz of walking round the start of the LDMT and not knowing where you're going, but knowing it's going to be a big one....
Other than the defunct Wharmton Dash, Moel Eilio wins for me but closely followed by Buttermere Sailbeck.
Scafell Pike is probably my favourite short race out there.
The race I completed and felt the biggest 'wow' factor from however was the Old County Tops, because I'd supported the race a couple of times as a kid and felt overawed by the challenge but completing it was kind of a real bucket-list choice ticked off.
Trying to plod up hills every day slightly faster than the day before
