Was tagged in another thing yesterday, instructed me to "Run 5km then donate £5"

Not sure who some people think they are.

Well i'd already done well over 5km in the morning, and they didn't tell me who to donate to, so i donated to myself and bought a couple of pies from the butchers.

    Today’s interesting thought in NYT

Some Correlation between country UV levels and less corona incidence.

If true and established as causal, it
Potentially offers help in work places

Incidentally, anyone else tried a private antibody test?
I’ve just ordered two of the Abbott labs test.

I barely post anything on facebook that isn't running or holiday related... even then it's generally my own photos so i have a home for them before i print them off.

    No politics... ever.

    No football...

    No work...

Missus nagged me to open an account and I did, but I only put a single post on there (testing, testing kind of thing!) and walked away. Not for me, I found it immediately intrusive and loads of "friends requests" from people I didn't want to share with, nor offend - like family .
Glad I have had nothing to do with it, suits some but not others, certainly not for me. But I am a grumpy old sod

I’d not bothered with Facebook for years but have started again in the last couple of months. The reason is because of the lockdown, it’s a way of catching up with friends that can no longer be done in person. I never engage in politics on there unlike on here because there are too many left wing half-wits who are incapable of a reasoned debate.

Frequently I am reminded of why I used to not bother. Barely a day goes by without someone expressing outrage at other people having turned up at the same place as them
to exercise. The lack of self awareness to realise that others have merely had the same idea as them is staggering.

It is a good way of keeping up with people you may not see very often, but want to keep in touch.

Downside is it's a good way of finding out that you are not quite so keen on people who you may otherwise like.

I'm often totally astounded by the views people air on facebook, or details of their private lives... it's not necessarily the views they hold that i dislike, but they feel like these views should be thrown out for everybody to see/hear.

About 8 or 9 years ago I was very close to a relationship with one girl i knew from school, but i simply couldn't get involved... every detail of her life was posted on facebook... photos of every meal, every time they left the house, etc... i couldn't bear to think that she'd be subjecting me to that.

Funnily enough, you'd think your circle of "facebook friends" increases over time... and for a period of time it does, as you catch up with old acquaintances, meet people through sports etc... but eventually it starts going down as you realise you barely know them and never speak to them, so you delete them.

I think at one time i had about 400 friends on facebook. Over time that's down to about 200 now. Even then i only see the facebook thoughts of about 40 or 50 of them, i have the rest switched off.

Admittedly for keeping up with race results and photos, it's unrivalled. WFRA and Shropshire Fell pages are simply brilliant. It's these that i'd miss more than convenient contact with "friends"... the Fell Runners UK group on the other hand

I really wish there was a separate medium for useful things like fell races etc. rather than Facebook which I refuse to join. I guess this forum, and others, used to serve that purpose.
