9.1 miles, 2,596 feet, 3 hours 9 minutes: Loughrigg trails, including down the race route from the top to the road at High Close, and back up the steps overlooking Grasmere. Overcast, with the cloud base at about 1,000 feet, misty below that. Intermittent drizzle/light rain. No sunshine. A moderate breeze from the west. Terrain saturated/streaming and very slippery. Given the weather, there were quite a few walkers on the fell. No other runners seen.

10.43 miles, 3,012 feet, 3 hours 25 minutes: Wansfell Pike from 2 sides, including along the ridge to the true top, and up/down the race route to/from the kissing gate. Overcast, with the cloud base at about 1,500 feet. Some brief episodes of sunshine with a couple of nice rainbows. Intermittent drizzle. A moderate breeze from the south. Terrain saturated/streaming and slippery. I saw about 20 walkers on the fell, and no runners.

9.35 miles, 2,621 feet, 3 hours 7 minutes: Wansfell Pike from 2 sides, including the true top, and up/down the race route from/to the kissing gate. Sunshine and high fluffy clouds, with streaky clouds above them. Some of the high tops were encased in banks of mist. No rain, a moderate breeze from the south. Terrain wet/saturated and slippery in places. I saw a couple of dozen walkers on the fell, and no other runners.

12.6 miles, 3,571 feet, 3 hours 47 minutes: Rothay Bridge - Low Sweden Bridge - rock step - Low/High Pikes - Dove Crag - Scandale - Red Screes - south ridge - Roundhill Farm - Ambleside. Overcast, with the cloud base initially at about 2,200 feet - higher later, with some patches of blue sky. No rain, no significant wind. Terrain damp/wet - grip good. Not many walkers high up, but lots lower down, town and car parks busy. 8 other runners seen.

I wore yet another new pair of X-Talon 260 V2s today - I had almost forgotten how comfortable they are.

My partner went to our local blackberry corner this morning - 1.5 kgs of blackberries in the freezer - excellent in scones and flapjacks.

I ran in Supertracs this morning, they were cutting into my ankle, not a problem I have ever had with inov8.

10.06 miles, 3,012 feet, 3 hours 18 minutes: Wansfell Pike from 2 sides, including along the ridge to the true top, and up/down the race route from/to the kissing gate. Mainly overcast, though there were some patches of blue sky; the cloud base was at about 2,500 feet. A moderate breeze from the west. I was not rained on though I could see multiple showers elsewhere. Terrain wet/saturated and slippery in places. Lots of walkers about; no other runners seen.

All of a sudden the bracken has started to change colour - in some places it is almost all brown.

Lots of walkers on the fell, many of them young children - good to see. 6 other runners seen, 4 of them about my age - again, good to see.

10.34 miles, 3,340 feet, 3 hours 35 minutes: Wansfell Pike from 2 sides, including up/down the race route from/to the kissing gate. High fluffy clouds and patches of blue sky, the latter increasing as the day went on. A few minutes of drizzle. A moderately strong wind from the west. Terrain damp/wet and slippery in places. Lots of walkers on the fell; no other runners seen.

The race route descent is still a good way down. It looks like the gap in the bracken is going last all year.
