I wonder if much has changed over the last 10 years in the Favourite Christmas Song department?

    My top three are:

Fairytale of New York..................... The Pogues

I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day.... Wizard

    Merry Xmas Everybody...................... Slade

I'd share the same No1 as you, but I have a liking for Christmas Wrapping, the Waitresses, so that would be my No2 off the top of my head.
Driving Home for Xmas - Chris Rea also has a good vibe.

But I'll throw in Oh Holy Night - when it's done well it just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

In 1957 a record called Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
It was a hit again in 1958, 60, 61, 62...it featured in an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie in 1959, etc.

    So what?

The tune is now being used in a TV advert. I hope the dependents of the two composers (Joe Beal/ Jim Boothe) are still receiving the composer royalties!

I would add 'Santa Claus is coming to town' as covered by Springsteen.

Probably its earliest rendition was in June 2016 at the Etihad stadium when a fan dressed in a full Santa outfit requested this. After a scurry around to find some glockenspiels etc, Bruce and the band played this with much hilarity.

    Yes, I agree with this.

Apart from that, Hanneke's choices on the first page of this thread are very much to my taste.

It's got nowt to do with Christmas but that Jona Lewie ditty always hits the spot for me. Something about the jaunty brass interjected against the gloomy environment seems to sum up the feeling of the Christmas season.
