    3. The FRA is established for the following objects (the "Objects"):

    (a) to accept a transfer of the operations and affairs, assets and liabilities of the Association and to become the successor body to the Association;

    (b) to encourage and promote fell running and allied mountain races having
    due regard to the environmental and other impacts of the sport;

    (c) to provide services to competitors, clubs and race organisers;

    (d) to establish uniform regulations for the conduct of competitors, clubs

    (e) to observe the Rules in so far as they concern fell running.

    The Ramblers had been formed in 1935.
    From the FRA website:

    FOR MEMBERS

    THE FELL RUNNERS ASSOCIATION
    The Fell Runners Association was formed in 1970 to cater for the needs of fell runners. It has over 9,000 individual Members from around 300 athletic clubs. The Association (which is affiliated to UK Athletics) acts as the Governing Body for the sport of fell running in England.

    Fell running has a relaxed low-key atmosphere where friendships are easy to make on the hills that are there to be enjoyed. There's something for just about everybody, whether it is the thrill at the sharp end, the pleasure of taking exercise amongst the hills, or the solitude of the lone long distance runner.

    Thanks Mike,

    That is the FRA I joined and it should represent itself accordingly on this forum.

    This is very disappointing, i thought the FRA had made a commitment to keep the forum open; and on its deathbed we get stolly trying to smother it with a pillow.

    I think we need an official channel to the FRA down which to plead a case for the forum. When Facebook starts charging its users, we'll be glad we fought to keep it going. Graham, Charmain can either of you help with this? Thanks, Luke.

    I'm with Graham on the "racing" point but also agree with Mike.

    I would hazard a guess that a double figure percentage of the 9,000+ FRA members do not "race" but enjoy running on the fells and, more importantly, contribute by being RO's, marshals, administrators and general helpers at races.

    Without these members there would not be any "racing"!
    Visibility good except in Hill Fog

    I find it very disappointing that the FRA chose to publish Joss’s funeral arrangements on FB and not on here. A request on there to please forward etc doesn’t really cut it.

    Agree, I don't do Facebook so I miss any notices etc posted on there and not on here.

    After visiting Joss' family, I posted exactly the same words on the FRA Website (News Item), the FRA FB Page and on the Joss thread on this forum. The post on the FRA FB Page had over 410 reactions and 66 shares, one to the Fell Runners UK FB Group which had a further 270 reactions. There was zero response on this forum. Exact arrangements are still being worked out and a notice will be published on the FRA Website in due course. You don't have to do Facebook.

    Me too. No need to reply, I thought (as did most) and of course we don't have the option to "like" or forward etc. so not really comparing apples with apples.
