10.76 miles, 3,282 feet, 3 hours 49 minutes: Wansfell Pike twice, ascending the first time via the 3 way junction, and the second time from the upper part of Nanny Lane, having gone along the ridge to the true top and Baystones. Almost completely overcast, with the cloud base at about 2,500 feet. Intermittent drizzle, totalling about 5 minutes. A moderate breeze from the south west. Terrain wet/saturated/streaming/slippery. Quite a few walkers on the fell, including a large group of at least 20. 1 runner seen.

10.67 miles, 3,031 feet, 3 hours 53 minutes: Loughrigg trails. Overcast, with the cloud base at about 2,000 feet. Occasional brief spells of sunshine. A few minutes of drizzle. The breeze from the south west is still there. Terrain wet/saturated/slippery. Lots of walkers and runners about - there is clearly a major event on as there are arrow signs everywhere and the big field in Grasmere looks packed.

I had to retreat twice because of the bracken - head high in places.

Have you got the one that has superseded the Shake dry? Mercurial?

No. In addition to the Shake-dry I've got two Inov8 Racelite Stormshell 150's, an OMM Kamleika smock, a really old Haglofs Intense smock (just about held together with repair tape), and an equally ancient Montane pertex smock. I ended up with the 2 Inov8s as my partner bought one and then decided she did not like it. The older of the 2 has quite bad delamination in places but still somehow keeps me reasonably warm, though not dry. I save the Shake-dry for really wet days. Its only negative is that the arms are a bit tight. Looking at prices, if I needed a new top, as I said, I would start by looking at Inov8.

My old OMM smock leaks a bit now and the half zip pullover arrangement is inconvenient. Even if i can't get back to running i need something else for my weekly booze cruise up to the craven arms.
