Just had Chaddy the Owl to replace the other runner who pulled out that morning.

Thought I was selected on merit! And I was looking forward to another outing for my fell club.

Does anyone know if the descent from Stoodley Pike will be flagged or can we go either way down?

Last year many teams followed the same route as was flagged the year before and lost time as a result, apparently the route wasn't compulsory last year.

Stoodley Pike is not on the Calderdale Way as you correctly point out. However, we have always included this detour as the monument is a Calderdale landmark and appears on our race logo. For the past few years, one of the descent paths has been protected by English Heritage and so an alternative one has been flagged. This year we were not requested to do this, so runners had a route choice to London Road. It was not mentioned that it would be flagged in the instructions sent to team captains this year. The marshal at Stoodley was telling runners which initial path to take from the Pike.

Again this year it is not mentioned that the route will be flagged, therefore I suggest you make your own way down, Boghobbit.

Anyone know why leg 6 is changed? About 3/4 mile must have been knocked off at the end, plus a bit of country exchanged for some steep downhill road. The steps were a bit slippy, and perhaps there was confusion about which way to drop down to the A629, but can't believe they would be the reasons.

Is RR team captain for Salford mixed?

PS I see there are 120 teams this year instead of the usual 100.
