There are a few who will be up for the prizes, but for most of us it's about the taking part, and having a go at beating the runner in front, plus the satisfaction in succeeding in a very tough challenge, and maybe getting a few championship points. Just make sure you're fit enough to achieve the cut-off times. Have a great run, and enjoy the experience and the camaraderie.
Only an injury will keep me from taking part (touch wood). Enjoy the training.

Will the entry fee revert to the normal £8 in 2009 or will the organisers realise there are plenty of punters willing to part with £20 for the privilege of running?

I know £20 is a big increase on last years fee but I think its fairly reasonable still though. I come from a road running background and you'll pay that do a big 10k. Most evening races I do are £4-5 for 4 or 5 mile races and they be Micky mouse races where as this has a bit more significance even if I'm not going to be near the front. Not too often you'll get to run in a "World" event infact its not too often I get to run in an English Champs race as last year I was injured or didn't enter in time

Good luck to the people who've got entries (eg mudlugger & witton park).

Although I've missed out and I'm upset about it I've got nothing against people who are in! If it's going to be your first time, then train hard and enjoy it. It's a great day out. My only tip would be to remember that when you get to Ribblehead you've done about half the distance but only a third of the climbing!

"I'm also beginning to feel somewhat guilty about being 'in', as if I've kept someone else out of 'their' race.
I appologise to all who are offended by my presence as I know I won't break any records in any categories or add to my tally of marathons... I'm just there to run"

Mudlugger don't feel guilty - give me your number and your guilt will vanish.

Jeez...two busy days at work and now I return to the normal world to find next spring's big target is gone.

Stuff it, i'll race round myself the day before and take advantage of all that tape

    Re: Three Peaks 2008

Right fellrunning has a non team aka Fell Ponies looks to me as if there is scope for a series of non races starting with the 3 peaks.

I.E. a group of like minded folk turn up an decide it might be fun to have an impromptu race amoungst themselves, no entry fees or prizes just a good day out maybe an unoficial time keeper.

Bit like the music raves of old but without annoying anybody
