Another short 5km Speed session for me tonight started to up the pace a fair bit over a short distance. Thought about a rest night and changed my mind.

The treadmill at Total Fitness is unbelievably boring.
Plus, the room is warm but the air cond. regularly blows frozen air on you. Swoop, you are right, even in the dark, cold, wet winter nights the canal is still better. (ok, it wasn't cold or wet last night, but anyway...).
Why do macho-looking big guys at Total Fitness use the treadmill for FIVE MINUTES before dying ?!
Why are the ladies at Total Fitness wearing beautiful posh expensive luxury "sporty" clothing ? And make up ? And parfume ? Possibly light jewelry?

Last week there was a BBC report saying least fit woman are most unlikely to start exercising because they are put off by their looking. Seeing people there makes me agree entirely. People don't go to a gym to get fit, they go to show off new clothing and such ...

Have you met up with Dave Tait yet, he's your age and now lives by the canal in Rodley and is great guy. Totally understated and a great champion.
to keep to the thread, 8 mile hilly road run
6ml or so round Rivock Edge area this evening with club. Very muddy - race on Sunday should be good. Millipede running well!
