    the good thing about these ldwa events are there not races unless you make them so there more social events,the idea being to finish. 50m is a long way but as long as you eat and drink on way round and dont hammer it early on you'll be fine notonurhelly..............

    It's a very social event. Lots of walkers do it, so there isn't the overriding pressure to keep the pace up.
    To be honest, I'm just going to jog round at gentle pace (famous last words).
    I've always found that "slow and steady" works best on monster events.
    Main thing is to keep your stops to a minimum, both in terms of lost time and also to stop your legs from stiffening up.
    Keep eating all the way round. I always do. I'm planning a bucket (trick or treat style) so i've always got plenty of nosh to hand.

    According to the website, as at 4th Nov (OK so a few weeks ago) there were 120 entries of which 91 were runners.

    As of the 8th dec 242 entries

    165 runners
    75 walkers

    off for me last long run before this now
