    Re: Xmas on the fells

If you had manflu (properly) so badly that you were a shivering trembling wreck but had promised to go outrunning with some friends, what would you do? If you were sensible you'd probably hide under a blanket?

    Amex didnt.

He drove all the way up to Keswick to make sure everyone got off ok then was waiting at Dunmail to ferry a few back to Keswick.

He looked close to death and was heading straight home to bed and missing the night out (those of you that know him will now realise just how ill he was)

Steve, you are insane and an absolute bloody hero, tis an honour to count you as a friend.

    Get well soon

    He's home, as am I.

A bit of an epic. 21 of us experienced snow, ice, gale force winds etc.. Definitely Christmas conditions. Thanks everyone, especially Amex, the drivers (of the cars) and navigators over the fells. I'm sure some photos will follow.

    Re: Xmas on the fells

Had a great night last night, its a real shame Steve was to ill to make it out.

Had quite a surreal night really, ended up in the loft (nightclub)with 5 complete strangers I had only met an ran with that day and having a whale of a time. The waiters from the indian also turned up in the nightclub. So we had a laugh with them and they have promised us free beer next time.

In the dance off stakes, Steve S would have clearly won, he and my missus ended up having a dance off with most of the locals in the club.

Cant wait till the next one, well done Steve for turning out and seeing us off. I sent you a christmas text did you get it?

See you all at easter, perhaps a post Anni Waltz night out would be good.

Cheers to everyone who turned up it was a blast.

    High 5s all around

I had a brilliant day yesterday! Run was fab, great to meet everyone and looking forward to doing similar again in 2008. As everyone says, it's a real shame Steve missed out but I'm sure he'll make up for it in the Spring!

    Re: Xmas on the fells

Same sort of stuff to say really - I had a great day. Despite the wind and cold I enjoyed the run, then the beer, curry, more beer and Loft with a bunch of people I'd only met the first time that morning was great fun.

I was disappointed by the low number of survivors to the Loft for the dancing competition! I reckon those couple of hours crosstraining on the dance floor cleared out the lactic and eased any aches or pains I might have otherwise had today!

Another big thanks to Steve for organising, and for going above and beyond by travelling up to the Lakes to act as a taxi whilst too ill to do any of the enjoyable bits of the day.

must thank amex , what a top guy , i owe you one
you looked well ill mate but gave us a lift and back, i cant thank you enough.
if the country had more guys like you well we would all live in a better place
i didnt manage to crack onto any of the keswick lasses either as by 11.00 o clock and 2 days without sleep my key had wound down , sorry i didnt make the nightclub.
strange thing was at 8.00 o clock the following morning i was outside in the rain standing in front of the moot hall just looking and staring at it with a big grin on my face

in a weird way i loved the weather up there, very cold on helvellyn, met lots of new friends, great
helped the master put his pants on in a whiteout , but he managed to put them on the wrong way, picture minus 27 windchill and we are faffing about with his tracksters. well we got them on in the end , it was quite an experence. me in a santa suit , must have looked quite odd.

must thank emmi for lending me her gardening gloves , they was amazing , really brought my hands back to life.

good company on the way up from fleeter and im glad he is back fellrunning, he even demolished a full fry up in the morning after god knows how many pints

like you say jamie we should have another one
    cant wait
