    Week commencing 22nd Jan

    Mon
    56mins canal run

    Tue
    am 36mins canal run
pm 50min progression run on roads starting at 6:15/mile and finishing on 4:50/mile. By 30mins we were at the bottom end of my tempo range (around 5:20/mile), and progressed right down to the top end, finishing with a 4:50 last mile. We covered well in excess of 9 miles in the 50mins, even with the steady start. 15min jog to finish.

    Wed
    62mins on roads

    Thu
    REST DAY

    Fri
am 36mins to top of Werneth Low and back.
    pm 29mins on roads

    Sat
Northern Cross Country. Second attempt at the taper with a rest day two days before the race. Felt great again and I think after all these years we've finally got the taper right. Absolutely delighted to finish 7th and 20secs off 3rd place - my aerobic fitness is pretty good now but I haven't done any structured track sessions yet and I've still got a bit of weight to shift from taking a break at Christmas and abusing my body LOL!! I start sessions again on Tuesday and have three good weeks mileage ahead now so I would hope that by the time my next race comes around (Inter Counties) I will be in very good shape, then its just a case of holding it or keeping progressing until London.

    Sun
am 1h50 flat off road run, with a group of Sale/Alty runners. Fancied a fell run but legs needed a flat run after yesterdays race.
pm 30mins very easy on road

    Weekly Mileage: 72

No running yesterday for me as I was late getting back from work!

Thou the plus side my fixie bike turned up so I spent what remained of the night putting it together and then went out for 40 mins!

What a laugh, can't remember cycling down a slight incline creating such a grin on my face!

Thou its bloody hard work on the hills, it'll have me fit in no time I reckon!

Just need to remember to not stop pedalling!

Am planning on 10 miles on the road tonight!

Another steady trog around the village - it's getting to be a habit.

Did anyone else have an incredibly bright moon last night? It was like running in daylight (OK not properly) with a clear shadow and everything.

    Lovely.

What fixie have you had, Calf? I've got an knackered old MTB converted to fixed and another road-bike work in progress. Easily the best fun on two wheels!
