Surely it can't be that different from sport - ident!!!
For the Mountain Trial this would be brilliant, you'd be able to see all your great route choices and compare them with others

From the safety angle the organiser wouldn't need a shorter course alternative for bad weather as they'd be able to track ervery one.

Imagine a race will NEVER be shortened or cancelled if you're tagged, bring it on
