I was out with a mate recceing leg 5 on MTBs on Sat morning, very wet, very misty and very muddy. Depressing thing is that we took almost 3 hrs to MTB leg 5 out and back from Waterfoot!

This from Lefty, the relay organiser:

"Dear........hopefully this will be my last email before the event tomorrow. I have had a few people understandably worried about the weather for tomorrow. We have had a fair amount of snow dumped overnight and this morning. I have had a drive around to all of the changeover points this morning and there is no problem getting around on the roads and to the changeovers although the side roads and the actual running sections might be "interesting".

The only changeover which might prove "challenging" if the snow doesn't shift so quickly is the final c/o at Whitworth and cars may need to be parked at the bottom near the main road.
The local forecast for later today is for rain and then dry tomorrow till around 12.00 then some rain and possibly strong winds although mild. Please remind your team members to bring along the apprpropriate gear for the expected weather..........good luck to everyone.......hope you all enjoy our event.....cheers
    Graham Wright ......Rossendale Harriers"

Hope you all enjoy it tomorrow. I'll see at least a fifth of you, as I'll be doing the finish.

Should be good tomorrow, the snow will just make me quicker. I'm running leg 2 but hopefully I'll be able to cadge a lift to the end.

Looking forward to it - my 1st tilt - and I think the first time for Blackburn Harriers - at an event like this.
Team is a little front loaded. We should be looking quite good after leg 2 and maybe also leg 3 - then we'll see - 4 and 5 are not quite so strong, although respect to my partner on 5, I will probably hold him up a few minutes!

I grew up in Stacksteads and know Rooley Road and Cowpe quite well so just fancied it.

    Have a good day everyone.

Don't think Mr N is relishing his leg with Tom, gets him out of the Sunday bike burn up though

I think Tom will work Matt harder than he has ever worked in his life. I really would like to follow that leg.
To be honest I could watch Tom run anywhere - absolute total commitment all the time.
