I'm guessing your reply will contain the following words rearranged into a well known saying "told so you I"...
Unlucky Joe, better luck next time.
I am happy with my PT Apex from ebay, the bloke delivered it really quickly;

Hope to see you again in a fortnight.

Buy it, but from a better company than I did!!!!
Just bought the new Silva LX online last weekend. Was meant to be doing some training tonight but won't be as it hasn't arrived!!
However I've been looking for the perfect head torch for ages. This one seems to have long battery life (with a rechargeable battery=cheap to run), it's got a 5watt luxeon bulb so it will be bright and you are meant to be able to read a newspaper headline 75m away with it.
What swung it for me though was that it's IPX6 rated, (waterproof scale, 1 being drips, 6 being 'powerful water jets' and 8 being submersion) Having had the circuits eroded on expensive bike lights due to water, this was important to me.
It's not exactly cheap at £78 (cheapest I found it) but compared to the Silva 20 Watt halogen powerhouses retailing at about £175 (battery included), I think it's very good value, especially seen as it has similar specs at half the weight and less than half the price!!
I bought a myo xp just before Christmas I find the light good enough to run/navigate by brighter would be nice but batteries last for ages, however, after using it twice it started turning itself on a second after turning it off.
CCC replaced it without question tho. so far new one is fine.
Joe, I wouldn't do that! I was so nearly tempted myself! On paper the spec looks out of this world - 5W, 75m beam for 15 hours ( a full winter's night @ max beam ) and ready equipped with a re-chargeable battery and charger, out of the box. It should have been quite adequate for the road bike as well as for off road running
I think it was Zlod that posted on an earlier thread - "No one appears to manufacture headtorches as reliable as Petzl!"
I 'make do' with a 7 year old Lucido Coolight 7 l.e.d. headtorch - the first available in the UK, even before Petzl's Tikka. Being in the electrical trades I have repaired, bodged and modified it, but I am a bit of a headtorch geek; even down to having a spreadsheet comparing the different aspects of performance ( beam range, battery duration, etc) of the different models from different manufacturers. Anyone in Bowland that asks my opinion, I always recommend Petzl's MyoBelt XP - allows you to keep the batteries warm on a cold night, reduces the weight on the head and can be retro-fitted with Petzl's Accu battery pack, which contains extra current limiting circuitry in addition to what is already in the lamp - everyone that has followed this advice appears to be well suited.
