Seems to hold up very well working from my mile pb of 4-33 most my pbs fall between the equivalents of 4-30 and 4-35 on the table.

Hoping for a far more successful 2009
Providing all the right pre race prep and race fluid intake ok
Then at the world elite end should be approx 2X +5 minutes
Where as a 2 hour half marathon runner should be approx 2X +10mins
So you should be aiming for sub 1h26 halfM, but in reality most runners don't get everything 100% right for a marathon so I feel that 1H25min should be nearer to your halfM target.
Right, how about this one I saw somewhere which converts 10k times to marathon but importantly the multiple of 10k depends on how many miles per week you are running. It also says that most people who use other typical conversion ratios will be slower than the marathon prdeicted time unless they are doing at least 60mpw
30-35mpw 5.5x
40mpw 5.0-5.3x
50mpw 4.9x
60mpw 4.8x
70mpw 4.75x
80mpw 4.65
100mpw 4.55x
This seems to make sense and should also be used to convert 1/2m times. You'd think someone running a 1.25 half on 80mpw is probably going to do better at a marathon than someone doing a 1.25 on 40mpw. Although the latter may be more talented the lower mileage is likely to be a handicap at 18 miles + in the marathon.
ps Swoop that might explain why your earlier marathon times weren't commensurate with your halves. Did you up your mileage in latter years?
