Chrome hill is worth a look
To pull in 4000ft in the Dovedale area you'd have to contrive an up and down route. Crossing over from Dovedale to the Manifold Valley and back might help. It's probably best planned with an OS map. Bottom end around Thorpe Cloud would be a good spot to start looking iirc. Oh, and make sure you go to Alstonfield, a lovely Peakland village with a nice pub

Thanks to The Tup & Dom on that occasion. Some lovely running, but as said, to get the climb you might have to contrive a couple of ups and downs.
Looking back, seems like only yesterday...only a few months into my fell-running 'career', ahem.

A shortened version of the Roaches fell race route might be a good option too

If you want the route that Softie mentioned, send me a pm with an email address. It's not online anymore.
thanks for the responses guys.. that other link is brilliant and just what im after.
that Chrome hill looks nice... i think we're in a hotel about 5mins from Dovedale so that also a great idea
the 4000ft was a just more of an upper limmit.. realistically i'd probabally aim for something in the 1500 - 2000 range, so can at least take the mrs on her first fell run.
have pm'ed you dominion... although im having a butter fingers day so if its not gone through let me know...
thanks

The cheese shop at Hartington is worth a visit too.
Have fun
