Ran Cautley Spout today for the first time in fantastic weather. Calves very sore from a never ending climb on steep grass with a bit of packed snow thrown in.
Will be back walking in the area and may get time to visit the temperance pub.
The KWL goes to some fantastic spots missed by most of us who go to the more popular bits of the Yorkshire Dales or to the nearby Lakes.

Looking to enter this, what distances are the races? Is the 2011 race list the same as the previous year?
The races are normally between 1-5mile, some steep others fairly flat. The races when I have done it are usually the same as previous years.Quote:

I think I'll try and take part in a few of these, I'm not a member of any club because I work evenings and clubs usually train in the evening. But I think I'll try and do a few races anyway. Does anyone know the distances for the races?

The flat cross countries are Birkrigg and Sedbergh School
Middling ones are Scout Scar, Firbank, Whitestones, Fell End Clouds and Austwick.
The good steep ones are Fairmile, Barbon, Cautley, Elterwater and Arant Haw.

Very tempted by Fairmile as I happen to be in the Lakes that weekend. Pleased about that.
So the races are pretty much 5 miles?

Just a quick couple of questions on Fairmile..
Is the route pretty much marked? Won't have time for a recce of any sort you see (just seen this has been answered earlier - yes, courses marked)
Also, does anyone know the approximate distance? Just wanted to know what to expect.
