You need to leave the phone in the car.
You wont ever truly appreciate the fells until you leave civilisation behind. Just run with the kit needed.
Phones on the fells

there you go Al you can follow Van damme that Vrabbit or Pudgy, you could always follow Disto stan but you will need a steam train to keep up with that little man.. :D
Yeah, Shouldnt be running sunday but i cant not do it. Im going to do the Pennie Bridleway Relays after that and then call it a day for a couple of months while I mend. Getting a call from my Uni injury and rehab unit and monday to get seen to.
Its gradually getting worse, it started on just the outside of the knee, now its also on the inside.
I dont think my part-time job does me any favour. Im a shelf stacker but i have quite a physical job compared to the fattys who put shampoo on the shelfs. Im constantly twisting my knee and by the end of a shift my knee is killing. So i duno if stopping running for a while is guna make much difference if im screwing it up working.
Its starting to really get me down now though. Before christmas and before the knee started, i was looking forward to getting some good training and milage done, to help me do alright in races. But the fact that i cant even train is just winding me up. I have to rely on a knee support to get me round a race.
I shouldnt have bad knees at 18!:(
joking apart, have you thought about special trainers, I used to suffer from knee trouble when i first started running. I was overpronating, so now I train and sometimes race in them big trainers, the Mrs says I look abit like scary spice (without the hair) but they sorted me out eh.
now back to joking:
u wanna.. u wanna... u wanna.... jig a jig ji!
Soz couldnt resist.
siz ya sunday.
I wish i had some idea of how to get to the finish, so i can go cheer you all on! x
Though fairly flat, there's a lot of knee deep mud for us all to enjoy. I'd recommend light weight racing galoshes.
So will we have the pleasure of Mr Pudge making an appearance?
Just one thing - I have these walking trousers. Do you think they pass as opposed to the thick waterprooof trousers which are currentyl bulging out of my bumbag.

Also - you reakon i can leave my compass and whistle at home?
No- I doubt they will be happy with the walking trousers- water repellent is not the same as waterproof. I notice it does say on the ogden site Waterproof and windproof jacket- ie not just pertex. It will be interesting to see if they check( I am taking both and will see what it is like as I have no wish to be soaked and frozen)
Guess your comment re map, comapss, whistle was a joke? Take them.
Oki doki. Ive got my new OMM jacket so im ok on that front. Will leave the walking trousers behind then - shame really as they fould in nice and small. I need to try and buy some proper trousers.
As for the compass i was actually serious :o. They have fit in my bumbag anyway so that doesnt matter now.
Yeah, be told Fowler! Even if your map skills are a little suspect, you can follow a rough bearing to safety if the ordure really hit the fan. Similiarly if you had to wait for Mountain Rescue you'll get cold very quickly (think of when we stood around for 5 minutes at XOTF) then think what you'd want to be wearing. Personally I think windproof is much more important than waterproof, but it still needs to be a reasonable shell. If I had any spare I'd lend them you, but I haven't, so I won't
Yep, did Ashurst Beacon today, throughly enjoyed it, and am presently indulging in pre race training with a cheeky little red. See you all tomorrow :D
I doubt you could walk slowly enough to stay with me! Have confidence in yourself, and go for it. Or put it another way, bugger off!!!:p
Its not a case of confidence, my knee aint feeling too well and i killed my heal at work last night at work.
So im a living wreck at the moment. - They say things come in threes so i wonder whats in store for me tomorrow. Cramp maybe?
And anyway - you tell me to bugger off all you want....i shall remain by your side unless you lamp me. :D
Left turn Clyde! Yeah, you'll be fine on the day and raring to go, but you're welcome to jog slowly round with me if you want. Somehow I think you'll disappear off soon enough :D
I was sad to hear you hurt your heel, infact i almost threw up thinking of the pain, but its also a way of your body saying "Heal me" so instead of thinking its one of the three wonders of the world, think of it as you HAVE to get your knee sorted out.
People on here are not nagging at you, they care, they know what an injury can do if ignored, and your only a young man, you need to get it better soon!
Haha hilarious!
