Not sure if this is bang up todate, i've used it to put a map together best i can. If you let me have your email, i'll send you a copy
Cheers
Chris
Hope to do a few of these. Maybe Burley Bridge and Wedge (car depending). Rombalds Stride nearly a definate. I'll also be having a bash at my local Rudolph's Romp - early Dec - perhaps the fastest LDWA challenge event out there, lots of quite flat bits in first half, but some decent scenery too.
Does anybody know if the Burley Bridge Hike definitely allows runners? Thinking of doing it this weekend.
Also, does anybody have a map/route description?
I did it last year and ran it, as did many others. Good course barring a long ish section on canal that saps the life out of you!
I'm not a LDWA memeber - can anyone copy and paste the route description for the burley bridge hike on here. I'd like to plot it on my memory map and try to imagine what 21 miles will feel like before I accept AJF's challenge of tackling this on saturday!
Actually cancel that - I've now found it!

here it is if anyone else wants to have a look.
Ah, no football for me Saturday so could do it meself !
Think that's just the entry form you've got there. But here is the route description I found.
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/yorkshire...ridge_hike.htm
What is the Woldsman like in terms of elevation that sort of thing and the footing as well as considering it. Any help would be happily received.
Thanks Chris - trail shoes for me as well I think on the basis of that.
I was planning on running with a bumbag rather than rucsac but the entry form mentions carrying a mug as a mandatory item, which would be a squeeze.. Do you know if this is strcitly enforced?
Nice event the Woldsman, 100x better than the Rotherham 50. More hills/valleys but they are reasonably gentle, with the route going through pretty villages, wooded sections and massive fields/farmlands, all typical of the Wolds area. The East Yorks ldwa is very supportive of runners, obligingly opening cps early, about 50 runners last year. The route is very simple and straight forward, no need for gps or reccies. I hope to do it again next year, my 3rd time.
I’m down for the Rudolph Romp, 23miles also in the Wolds area on 5th Dec, but could do with a map - anyone?
Muddy Retriever:
Nobody will turn you away if you don't have a mug. The worst that can happen is that you won't get a drink; however, the refreshment points often have a few disposable cups (though these, if provided, often have to be shared...).
You could always thread your bumbag strap through the handle of a plastic mug, or use a carabiner. Alternatively, if you stuff your waterproof into a small plastic cup you might actually fit it into a medium sized bumbag.
Trail shoes for me too, Chris. There'll be some parts which will be very slippery/boggy and would ideally take a stud, but there's too much on tracks and paths for me to manage without a bit of cushioning.
See y'all there!
Hi all
chris you have mail re map! Looking forward to burley..also did the hoghton Twoer one, but only the short route. I will be in a stockport harriers top with some fetch gear :)
Well in typical fashion I am leaving this far to late and still don't know if I can make it but can I enter Burley Bridge Hike on the day?
Also what time is it all setting off? I think I remember 9am as the start time last year? I also think I entered on the day but memory seems to be lacking.
Yes I know I am being pretty sh*t here but just tooooooooo busy at the moment for any proper thought going into my running unfortunately.
hi there ajf have fun in the rain tomorrow!
i think you can enter on the day £8.50 and i think it starts at 8am !

i thik this link says youy have to register before 7.30!
thats early for a saturday morning - you still going on your bike?!
BBH: having been almost the first entrant, I've picked up a last minute injury which puts me out.....GRRRRRRR!
Won't see you lot after all....
Hi MG :), congrats :), great news. Hoping to be at TT next year
BBH was lovely, thanks for the maps chris, really helped :)
Hi clairster and MG - Wahey! Let's get a list going:
Troller's Trot 2010
Mountain Goatess
clairster
DazTheSlug
Lady Slugge
Also, has anybody else seen this:
http://www.fourinnswalk.org
looks fantastic!
4 inns walk looks excellent - might try to get a team together for that. Anyone on here done it before?
Edit or maybe not, just spotted that it's the weekend after Edale Skyline... /Edit
Burley Bridge results are online now, here.
I didn't take part this time, but enjoyed a bit of spectating at various points on the route!
Missus and I shall be at the Real Ale Ramble this weekend. Missus walking the 25m both days, I'll probably attempt Saturday slow walk/jog and take the MTB out for a spin Sunday.
The free beer on the way round does seem a most civilised proposition :D :D.
Hi Daz
When is the Trollers next year. I fancy a return to this from the Hobble as it's usually the same weekend.
Four Inns is an extended Tanky's and is what prompted the set up of the Peak District MR Organisation
Troller's is Sat.6th March
could be a Slug Clan Cottage Jobby
not sure if I can swing sufficient brownie points for Four Inns, as tis first week of school hols, but I'll be working on it... ;)
It was definitely more relaxing for me to be watching than running! I think I've pretty much done what I can with the BBH but no doubt will do it again.
Was nice to see Paul Hart at the front after he came second last year. Must take a bit of commitment to come down from Dumfries every time.
Results are from the Burley Bridge website:

When I get a spare 30mins I'll put a map together for Rudolph's Romp. Last year I did it off Recce memory and local knowledge, should map ok from that. Its fairly straightforward for most part, if any of my club (City of Hull) are wearing vests (purple) then follow them as many have recce'd or done before.
Brief description of route. Short road to start before sharp undulating bit on edge of Wolds to edge of South Cave. More unulating/hilly before a long flattish track and field section for most of first half. Sancton roughly halfway is biggest foodstop. After this there is some dry-dale running including some long steady climbs which may catch you out if you went out too fast on flat first half. Some drops as well of course, this second half follows Wolds Way for many miles - its quite well marked. After short road sections losing height. Before running along bottom of dry-dale running on decent tracks (in summer). Before climb, field crossing near High Hunsley Beacon before descent into Woodland and flat run through Woodland. You then hit the sharp/undulations of start of race, with a big climb from the woods. Slightly different route back, will hurt if you've overdone.
To compare with other events its much easier than Rombalds Stride. Easier than Trollers Trot. Comparable to Scarborough rock or Smugglers Trod. Apologies this is probably no use for a lot of you!
Because of long flats the sharp (usually short) climbs can be a shock. Biggest ones are near start, end and about halfway. Its longer than 23m, probably more like 24.5 (I think I stuck to route pretty well last year). Lots of runners last year.
Is anyone doing the Wensleydale Wedge on Sunday? I'm keen to do it as it looks like a great route, but will have to enter on the day. Trouble is there's a 250 entry limit and, unless I've missed something, no way of telling if it's full (no online entry). I don't fancy going all that way to not do it; does anyone know if there's usually entries left on the day? Tried contacting the organiser but no luck.
Oh and I'll be doing the Trollers Trot next year, hopefully as a final long training run before the Edale Skyline!
Wedge is full and no OTD entire apparentley :(
Just received my cheque back today so not doing it unless I can find somebody who has dropped out. Never known an LDWA event fill up like that
http://www.ldwa.org.uk/lgt/show_news.php?c=25&p=686
This is probably too late now but I'm not able to take my Wedge place due to illness. I'm number 164. I'm sure the organiser wouldn't mind changing the name assigned to that number. It might screw up the certificate though if it's pre-printed.
This event always fills up before the day. It's very popular.
