Think Howarth Hobble is usually second Saturday in March so no clash this year. Might be able to do both!

I didn't take part this time, but enjoyed a bit of spectating at various points on the route!
Thanks Rombald, you missed out on a great day - fast pace at the front. Where did you get the results from?

It was definitely more relaxing for me to be watching than running! I think I've pretty much done what I can with the BBH but no doubt will do it again.

Was nice to see Paul Hart at the front after he came second last year. Must take a bit of commitment to come down from Dumfries every time.

Results are from the Burley Bridge website:

When I get a spare 30mins I'll put a map together for Rudolph's Romp. Last year I did it off Recce memory and local knowledge, should map ok from that. Its fairly straightforward for most part, if any of my club (City of Hull) are wearing vests (purple) then follow them as many have recce'd or done before.

Brief description of route. Short road to start before sharp undulating bit on edge of Wolds to edge of South Cave. More unulating/hilly before a long flattish track and field section for most of first half. Sancton roughly halfway is biggest foodstop. After this there is some dry-dale running including some long steady climbs which may catch you out if you went out too fast on flat first half. Some drops as well of course, this second half follows Wolds Way for many miles - its quite well marked. After short road sections losing height. Before running along bottom of dry-dale running on decent tracks (in summer). Before climb, field crossing near High Hunsley Beacon before descent into Woodland and flat run through Woodland. You then hit the sharp/undulations of start of race, with a big climb from the woods. Slightly different route back, will hurt if you've overdone.

To compare with other events its much easier than Rombalds Stride. Easier than Trollers Trot. Comparable to Scarborough rock or Smugglers Trod. Apologies this is probably no use for a lot of you!

Because of long flats the sharp (usually short) climbs can be a shock. Biggest ones are near start, end and about halfway. Its longer than 23m, probably more like 24.5 (I think I stuck to route pretty well last year). Lots of runners last year.

    Hobble vs Trollers
Come on Brett a man of your influence (I think I have that right!), am sure you can make it so they don’t clash. Keeps the numbers up on both events

    Re: LDWA events

Is anyone doing the Wensleydale Wedge on Sunday? I'm keen to do it as it looks like a great route, but will have to enter on the day. Trouble is there's a 250 entry limit and, unless I've missed something, no way of telling if it's full (no online entry). I don't fancy going all that way to not do it; does anyone know if there's usually entries left on the day? Tried contacting the organiser but no luck.

Oh and I'll be doing the Trollers Trot next year, hopefully as a final long training run before the Edale Skyline!

    Re: LDWA events

This is probably too late now but I'm not able to take my Wedge place due to illness. I'm number 164. I'm sure the organiser wouldn't mind changing the name assigned to that number. It might screw up the certificate though if it's pre-printed.

This event always fills up before the day. It's very popular.
