Not this time SS - but hopefully in my new house I will be a step closer to being an actual fell runner! So... maybe next time :D

Nearly came along but was out on Pendle on Saturday and had skinfull on the night time!
How was the run?
Look forward to having you along soon then OHW! ;)
Bloody tough Hursty. Forgot water which meant had to miss last climb up Big End. Still 2,000ft in 7.5mi. Was very tired afterwards.

Looks like I may be heading up again early Friday morning if you're interested?
Should be around for a run or two ;)Quote:

Looking to head up to Pendle early Friday morning c7:00 for a gentle trot round. Got someone else joining me already. Feel free.
Good to see you are back running SS  I was looking at your track and it took me a couple of minutes to work out your "figure of eight" round the top of Pendle :D. I have not been running myself much lately for one reason or another so I will be trying to get back into it after this weekend. I noticed you had picked up a bit of interest on Twitter for the CTJM sessions as well.
Yeah, it's just a wee bit convoluted that route, but it does the trick. The trick being to chuff you well and truly up!
Despite 'interest' this Friday'll be the first time anyone's joined me for a long time! Look forward to seeing you again soon though ;)
Edit: forgot to add, now meeting at Barley car park at 6:30. Up w/ headtorches in time for sunrise w/ any luck.
Hi SS, whereabouts in the south (assuming your name is still an accurate indication of your location) do you travel from? The commander in chiefs' parents live in Pendle, so I'd love to work out if regular trips are possible.
Sorry TC, I'm an ex-pat Southerner, and live but a short 5mi run from Pendle. Holla if ever you're up visiting CinC's folks tho', and I'll see if I'm around to meet up with you for a run :)
Ah shame; you've done what I'm trying to do now by the sounds of it, though I want to move back up north (born and bred on the pennines)! I'll give you a shout as and when I'm up - as long as you're not really fast :).
Around on Boxing day? Fancy the Winberry Naze dash?
Pah! Nae fear! Best of luck getting your migration on.:)
No, delivering kids to BH's ex (modern families, eh?). Then taking my folks for a walk round Dunham Massey & a meal in the Swan with Two Nicks. Any runs over the break will be just a case of me sneaking out when I can; nothing too pre-planned.
Okey doke, well have a good Christmas/NY and I'll hope to get up for a run early new year.
I'm considering entering the Haworth Hobble..
Sunday, 8am, Pendle Hill sesh from Barley car park.
Al Fowler already on board.
Who else?
Great morning out with the lads on Pendle!
Beast of a session!
Feet up in the garden with a cider on ice for this afternoon basking in the sunshine :)
Good to see you again Hursty. And Al. Think that's the first time I've seen Al since XOTF '09!
Definitely a tough sesh: 3,009ft of climb, bulk of which in first 5mi. Ascent according to Suunto - 1st time used in anger, & (finally) calibrated at the trig. Yet to see how this compares to Garmin/SportTrack data.
Fantastic weather, and a great run out with a few friends. Tough though. Definitely felt the old man of the group :o
Clearly need to do more hillwork!
Ooh no, mustn't forget Scott either. Just that I'd seen Scott not so long back on a Heptonstall recce, and of course, only the day before in Complete Runner!
Watch this space, will definitely be doing more of this session. Have to. I couldn't keep up!! First proper climbing I'd done in a good few months, and it told.
Throw Scott into the mix as well, and that's reeeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyyyy old!!
We definitely ripped it up in the sun!
Any garmin logs from Sunday morning yet? :)
I'll load mine up tonight and post the link so we can gaze at our masterpiece!
I wonder what would have more climbing in per mile....our "Garys Route" of 3009ft in 8ish miles vs "The Pendle Monster"?
The Moster is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to far out of my league just yet, but I wouldnt mind eventually doing the "Garys Route double" and bag 6000ft! haha. I doubt id manage 3 hill sprints on the second lap though! haha
And scared a few locals too! If Al's not got his on here tonight, I'll get mine on tomorrow at some point.
Was driving past RAF Leeming today, saw what looked like a couple of F15s coming into land. Know anything about this?
Wasn't the cardio for me (see Al's comment about hitting the road at the end), it was the lactic acid in my quads and calves that did for me, just not enough hills in 'em. Then again, day before had been doing deadlifts and Bulgarian bag burpees, and a row sesh...which couldn't've helped! :o
The double would be a toughy indeed! Monster wins it for me though, mainly cos we weren't out long enough to hit carb deficit...i.e. bonk! Did this big style on the Monster on penultimate climb. Still gives me nightmares from time to time! *shudders*
I know it's Pendle fell race today, but I'll be doing another Pendle hill session tomorrow. 8am(ish) tomorrow from Barley car park. Anyone up for it?
No worries Al. Thinking of running over from Nelson for the start, then run back. Will let you know about next Saturday.
Hardly slept last night, done something to my rotator cuff. Decided to bin early morning Pendle sesh, too tired. May take a run over this evening.
Gary....or anybody for that matter.
How much climbing would one get by climbing big end alone? From the wall at the bottom, up to the top?I only ask as I'd like to know how much we'd have to do to make your 3009ft epic, into a 4000ft beast without adding in any considerable milage?
Ps I'm still up for this coming Saturday for the 3009fter again!
I'm back over at the working side of the divide unfortunately mate!
Deffo throw in a climb up big end, I nearly always do it, most rewarding with the spring at the top to quench your thirst! :)
Garys Beast: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/167126165#
Its giving me 2,708ft. I did stop the watch before we dropped down from the summit to the fresh spring, and forgot to start it again until we'd had our fill of lovely water. But that shouldnt of lost us any climbing?
I'll do exactly the same again this Saturday and use it as a comparison.
Ne'er mind Gary's Beast, what happened to Softie's Monster? :closed:
