Wow, that was hard work... 66 miles with some fast boys... one of which is an ex pro who has offered to coach me, so this was a test ride... Well, I was tested to my limits! Had to step pff twice on some hills, as my HR rocketed up so high I felt lightheaded and thought I was going to fall over! :w00t:
Still wondering if I could have ridden through it...
He took me to a physio mate of his afterwards, who has assessed my shoulder properly at last and says it is my neck!!! Which makes total sense to me! He did some manipulation and it feels better already. Got exercises and some more manipulation and it should get better withing a couple of weeks or so :-O Been suffering from the end of April with this now... Should have gone to a physio right away, rather than struggle with the GP's...
Got a training plan for this coming week too, a LOT of turbo efforts to get the body used to working at a higher HR and increase my power!!!
Yesterday was a claggy boggy outing out in over Pendle
it was tough work in the saddle against the wind with the soft ground on the tops.
So a good mix of running/ pedaling
Was more fun than you can wave a muddy bike at:w00t:
Thats incredibly muddy Monkeynut :)
I cleaned my bike this morning, after yesterdays ride in Somerset... it was cake in with cow shit and looked like I have been doing cycloscross on it... I took some pics before cleaning it, may post them later :)
15 miles over a mixture of bridleways / road / canal towpaths. Off to wash my bike now before Daz tells me off..
It's my Dad's old alloy training frame with a mix of campy components. It's not a bad bike, very comfy to ride but no where near as nice as the Grand Frondo Ribble Carbon frame my Dad races on!
If you can handle the lack of service and waiting ages for stuff to turn up you can get some pretty good deals from Ribble. The carbon frames are definitely worth considering.
A mate bought a new bike... with Dura ace groupset... it is so good, I am now contemplating upgrading my Ultegra to Dura Ace...
Nah... you need Campag Record...
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the gears, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most gears go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's faster? Is it any faster?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one faster, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be spinning at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your bike. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it in eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One faster.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten faster and make ten be the top number and make that a little faster?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
If you wanted Campag and were prepared to spend that sort of money surely you'd buy super record? And the ti option at that.
Its alright swapping to campagnolo but you have to think about your wheels, hubs etc.
Best to keep to the same manufacturer.
Dura ace. Thats a film isnt it
18 mile to work this morning
Worked hard but can't go sub 1 hour. Missed out by seconds.
Bloody warm.
As usual Daz is right :) If I went to Campag, I'd have to change all my wheels, ANd my other bikes... can't be doing that... Besides, I have ridden a bike with Campag record on it and it broke at the slightest touch... so apart from the fact that I don't like the way it shifts, it also broke hmmmmm...
However, I could go to Sram red... as that is Shimano compatible... hmmmmm...
63 miles on some undulating roads more or less doing a big loop crossing the Firth Of Tay crossing at Dundee and Perth. Good to be out after a rubbish couple of months and it felt easy
Han if your thinking of changing to sram I'd hang on a bit as red is due for an upgrade. If you don't want to wait it can be found pretty cheap these days

Once you've logged in to get the further 10% discount thats pretty much £500 off!
Just had one of these on review

very impressed... SRAM Red and those wheels for £3000... climbs wonderfully.
Well back home again with another 18 mile in the legs or an hour and a quarter on the seat.
Warm evening.
Do enjoy the trip to work and back, should make more of an effort to do it regular.
Mega hot 54 miles tonight, nearly stopped at matlock for a milkshake but carried on. The climb up the road to riber was tough but the suffering was made tolerable by a slight breeze. Once on the tops the peak district was in all its glory.
Def ready for the cold coke at the shop as i finished.
That looks very nice Nikolas! What did you think of the Sram red groupset then?
25 mile round trip work and back followed by a short ride to Wythenshawe for a session on the athletics track...Ruined it all with a chippy tea!!!
I had a hard track session, then went to McDonalds and bought a large strawberry milkshake... to cool down! God it was hot!
Called in at samways cycles today to try on a pair of assos bib shorts. They finally have some size small.
Felt really good and ive had them put behind the counter as i forgot my wallet.
They have 2 x pinarellos in there with the electronic shifting. One at nine grand and one at seven grand. :p
Loads of treks and spezialized bikes.
Be interesting to see what the maintenence issues are with that electronic shifting. I wouldnt pay the price. Prefer to do my own maintenence.
Shimano is the only one currently on the market with Dura Ace Di2. Ultegra Di2 is following for 2012. Campag do have an electronic groupset that can only be seen on pro tour bikes at present, with I think Movistar being the only team to use it across all there riders. As for a release date? Who knows, they are italian after all ;)
Hello mate
Eavesy is correct in saying both Shimechano and Campagnolo have models. Shimano are releasing an Ultegra version which will be pitched around £1500. That will def sell.
Give it 3 years and I bet the price will tumble.
The days of setting your index gears will probably be numbered.
No assos shorts for me... as long as I get free bibs from my sponsor and have to wear club kit for racing, I shan't be shelling out vast sums of money on a pair of bibs :)
But if Daz says they are comfy, I am halfway convinced :)
Another hot day and another turbo session for me... My new coach type person is trying to get me up to scratch asap and it involves a week of very hard, mainly turbo sessions... Will be interesting to see how the increasingly knackered legs cope tonight!
I do hope I get to ride on the road again next week though... but my bimbling days are definitely over!
