I just got back from a flat out 10 miler out into longridge n back(rough twisty road) wind out was mostly at 2-3 o'clock so about 8-9 on the way back just manged to clock over 32 on the way back averaged about 15 on the way out
Well i ran 12 miles in mega wind and then did 50 mins on the rollers and that was a bit rocky also.Just spent an hour doing even more maintenence.Clipping my border collie.
Yes would love to, except not much of a mountain biker, would love an off-road run + road cycle combo ...
Was bloody windy in Richmond park on Sunday too - made the ride v taxing. Felt like I could've done better - staying up til 2am on saturday morning drinking probably didn't help too much.
2 of my friends were cycling the Dales Way at the weekend and I did a part of it from Redmire to Hawes (and back to Redmire). They carried on riding to Clapham but hit a storm. The weather was atrocious and as they were heading up a 1in4 they came across a bunch of cyclists who'd been doing LEJOG. One of their party had just overshot a corner and hit a wall...she died minutes later from head injuries. It has really shaken us all up.
16 miles with some very nice climbing, just over the hour time wise, very windy, even descending an 8% gradient felt ninja!!
Wise man daz! Better safe than sorry!!!
I was on the turbo on Sunday and Monday and had a rest day yesterday. Today it is all back to normal, so my MTB session in Bristol is going ahead :) Picking up my bike and go ride it :)
I've taken the Spinning Class option this week... got blown of my feet running on Monday night... wouldn't fancy it on a bike at all. Just got a new cross bike though... just training wheels on in pic, have got a nice set of Citec 6000 CX carbon tubulars for racing.
VERY very lovely Nikalas!
Have you had any cross bikes with discs to test yet? I'd like one for 3 peaks, but only if it comes with hydrolic discs and I have been told that they are not available yet for cross bikes?
Not yet... a lot of manufacturers/racers have been slow on the uptake as they've been struggling to get fork weight down while still staying stiff enough under braking. Hydraulics and STI's are a while away too but there were a few after market adaptors popping up at EuroBike.
Bypassed the Dutch border region of Wales and banged straight through the Beacons, Storey Arms over Penderyn moor, bet they nailed that at over 40mph with a following wind, brilliant road and it's only a bit downhill. Down the valleys and over Caerphilly mountain for a punchy finish. Crowds heaving on the top of the climb watching the boys suffer as they raced over the top, utterly brilliant, then 50 mph + back down for a world champion finish. Great day, fab spectacle:thumbup:
I have just taken reception of something like that. Friend wanting to sell it...
But I also heard last night, from the director of the team I will race for next year, that I 'may' just get one from one of our sponsors... Kinesis...
Spot of mtb-ing tonight :) Two hours or so on the old Kona, which seems to be in good shape :) Did some muddy, rooty and steep stuff, all in the dark. Another steep learning curve and much fun :)
Bit of reading for you Hann

tomorrow I shall be mainly riding up the Aubisque and / or the Tourmalet, weather permitting ....
yes it's on the cards: I'm staying four nights in Argeles-Galoszt (sp?), which is sort of between the Aubisque and the Tourmalet, and near the Luz Ardiden too - and also within striking distance of a load of the other big Pyreneean cols, so I'm hoping to set off on a different ride each day and see what I can get to.
Forecast ain't great though ...
Then riding to Nice from there.
Looks like my 3P's is over if I can't find a drop-out for my cx bike after this mornings ride......arse

Oh uh! NOT good... Hope you succeed...
I did my first ever 'proper' cyclocross race today and my front mech has stopped working... I rode over half of it on my little ring! Having a look at it tomorrow, think it has just been clogged up with mud, but I did think what if I break my bike, as I only have the one...
Really hope you get it sorted!!!
Ashfieldwheelers had graeme obree the other night.Brilliant night, met him, asked 3 questions and he gave me a ten minute chat. Quality guy. I left inspired
Wheezing Donkey, no the Qoroz crosser never materialised... tad pissed off about that, as the frame was built for me, thenthis guy from JD cycles does a runner with it... Apparently, he is now racing 3 peaks on it... He better not get anywhere near me!!!
Front mech still not working properly... It shifts ok onto the 3 rings now, but the chain is rubbing in both the little and big ring (it is a triple) and I can't seem to get it to move out enough to stop rubbing... Now dowsed in WD40 overnight, in the hope that that loosens things up... If not, I will be riding in the middle ring only on Sunday :(
you mean the adjustment screws are stuck ?
To adust the front mech
drop the chain onto the small chainring ( now no tension on the mech) cable is loose.
Then make sure the mech is correct height and is in line with chainring. To do that loosen the allen key n the braze on bracket align and tighten.
I normally have about 2mm between chain and underside of mech.
Then you can adjust the limit screws.
But this will be nigh on impossible without the bike in a workstand hann.
Hann not stating the obvious but before you start adjusting just drop it in the small chainring so the cable is loose. Loosen the allen key thats holding the cable on the front mech. Pull the cable tighter with some long nose pliers and re tighten the cable.
id say your cable has stretched a bit.
that should solve it.
This is usually the problem if its not shifting far enough
Daz, it is in the right place, it just seems to have too narrow a range of movement, if that makes sense? I am thinking of putting a new cable in, that may help?
