Did final three climbs of Full Tour of Pendle today, good weather, decent pace, about 9miles/3000ftish, simple as that.
AM - 20 miles with 5 X Scarfell climbs.
PM - 2 loops of the Bob Grahame with 1 minute recovery between loops.
Legs a little heavy after 1 loop of BG. Tomorrow may be time for a 30 mile recovery run, rest my poor little leggies.
Short run from Edale car park up Mam Tor then onto Loose Hill via Hollins and back down.. blew the cobwebs off, still a bit slippy up there.
hey ts - think it must just be this morning's frost - was totally non slippy yesterday
yesterday, jog/walk (heavy on the walk): - edale-grindslow knoll - down fall- kinder low - brownhill - hollins cross back (started super sunny, ended up quite chilly on rushup edge, saw a couple of guys recceing the skyline)
today - quick blast around the burbage valley.
Three hilly road loops starting at home, down the hill and back up in 58mins. Each climb is ~500ft and ~ 1 mile.
It's all I could face today - not on form(!) and missed out on the chance of a longer fell run first thing. :(
walked!! 5k and struggled to do this. totally pissed off. first time out of the house for ages.
12 miles round the white holme circular with Emmi-lou-lou ;)
bloomin windy out there :eek::D
Did second half of Edale Skyline today along with TallPaul, starting at mam Nick-Lords Seat-Brown Knoll-Grindslow Knoll-Ringing Roger, then back up to Hollins Cross and over Mam Tor to car.13 miles in total.A good run,but quite boggy out from Lords Seat:eek:
10 miles off road to break in new Roclite 315's after sudden passing of old wave harriers (no wave harriers my size at sportshoes today so took a risk - seem ok so far very supportive, though a bit narrow and not as grippy but that might have been the conditons)
Up Occupation lane to 3 horses, along valley bottom to Goose Eye onto Millenium way up to Keighley Res and moor, across moor to Dog and Gun at Oldfield, down track past Airforce memorial to Oakworth, though Oakworth Park, across Slaymaker over Branshaw golf course and back down Occupation lane. Strong headwind at times and very muddy only 2 minutes off my average time when fit'ish so quite pleased.
Ankle sore but holding.
CycloX race in sheffield today
wet, windy, muddy.....great :D:D
although the course was largely flat it felt like a tough 50 mins of racing
warmed down when i got home with 40 mins of bike cleaning :(
Todays training consisted of 1.6 mile bike ride to the water park, 1.1 mile run round the water park, and 1.6 mile ride back home.
Branston has just witnessed the future of triathlon.... :)
(not me, my 8 year old training partner!)
I thought that as well till I did Cyclists v Harriers on my bike last dec, I got hammered by all and sundry and only just past a Keighley female runner I am normally much faster than on the line, one of the hardest races i have done. Cyclo cross itself is good fun though hte season is nearly finished now.
If you are looking for stuff to do whilst your injury recovers you could do worse than cycling, if you have a bike but are not happy with how good it is get a turbo trainer than you get practice indoors.
Ive got a decent bike and cycling sounds like a good alternative. I cycle to work (3 times a week. 3 miles there, 3 miles back so its abit of a sprint really.
My legs are tripe at endurance on the bike so should be good to get some miles done and obviously get my legs going again because they've lost alot of their endurance which is quite depressing.
Are you suggesting she talks a lot ? ;)
For me a short loosener this morning (2.67 miles)
Then ran as a guest in the Cambridge College's League cross country at Coldham's Common flat as a pancake 10.4km apart from 4 stiles. Most of the students beat me no suprise there !! With warm and warm down 12 miles total.
I'm chucking in a bit of bike work now as well, I do a 2.5 mile run 3 times a week when I get home from work, its all I can stand on the pavements without my shins playing havoc. I dont know if its poor stretching or something else causing it but I'm hoping adding my work ride in will help. I do the last 10miles in on my bike so thats 40 miles a week, when I was doing this before the clocks went back I could feel the difference after just a week or so. Heres hoping!
Being a newbie on the fells I can do with all the stamina I can muster! :)
50 mins easy around the Tame Valley Park at Lunchtime
50 minutes head-torch run in good snow on Cracken Edge.. some impromptu bottom sledging too!
Staying in tonight - the truck went skidding on the roads so what chance have I on my two feet? Gonna press on with the gins & tonics!
SNOW! Couldn't resist!! Only my second run of the year and the first one off road. Just a quick up and down Holcombe Hill. All looking quite Christmassy.

Awww how pretty those snow pictures are, and there is Pilgrim! who took that picture, i can imagine you have hooked the camera on the tree for that picture...:p
Great run on a nice carpet of snow from Combs village over to Fernilee and Errwood reservoirs and back via Whitehall. Hardly needed the headtorch. Nice meal in the Beehive with a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord and then a careful drive home on icy roads.
4m to work on singlespeed, 4m home in headwind and sleet, nice covering on the roads up Barkisland, finally feel like the man-flu is behind me now:)
Two hour hard track session, on the bike that is :)
Lovely 1:20 run with dog... good snow above 300m including some fun knee deep stuff on backside of Mount Famine.
So far today, just a easy 3 mile commute.
usual 6 miles, had a nice 11 mile trot at bowland on Saturday with the lady friend, great day out.
12 miles today - 2 miles of canal towpath then loads of muddy trails. Due to cross the Pennines on Thursday to do the Witton Weavers Way (32 miles) with a mate but the weather is not looking good:(. Should be able to recover on Saturday with a trip to the Lakes with the missus. This retirement lark is getting really hard work :D
5 miles on pendle, nice and cold underfoot lovely and boggy in some places.. :)
speedwork down at the club for me tonight :D
Just a 4 mile trot to work and the same home for me.
