I stood up in the Swan about 15mins ago and my legs were very wobbly. Thankfully no-one saw me so I didn't have to explain that I wasn't really drunk (yeah, right) but rather my quads are mangled and my my ITBs feel like wire :) Perhaps a Leffe might aid the recovery process. I hope so
7.85 mile on Pex Hill this afternoon in the sunshine again.
Completed my three in three this evening.
Three races in three days.
Two PB's and a joint second in tonights club race. A classic eyeballs out AS up Pike low Nr Margary Hill no one could get near Al Ward though
3.35 miles 800ft 29.18 minutes. beautiful evening shorts and vest
Local knowledge definately helped.

Same as IDP actually, summer race no. 2 - Pike Low Direct. Thought I wasn't tired after Kinder Downfall until I set off then the legs went to jelly. Still, a glorious evening for it and a new bit o' the world to see. :)
A very wet but enjoyable (2/3rds flat) 4 miles on road, towpath and woodland embankment. Very quiet out there tonight (8pm) - one other runner and a couple of mountain bikers.
got a right beasting in my military fitness class tonight - not been that exhausted for a while, every muscle burning, blowing snot all over the place. Feel brilliant now like.
An easy trot along the cliff tops at lunchtime, visibility down to less than 100m in the drizzle.
Followed by half a mile in the pool before Tea.
Hopefully another couple of weeks of this real easy stuff and all the winter niggles will be gone.
1/2 a mile in the pool this morning followed by 30 mins on the Turbo trainer this evening
5.7 mile around Allerton Abbey part of club training night.
Yesterday was the 2nd time me and emmi have done hill reps on Winter Hill.
Last night emmi cracked it and ran all the way for every one of them.:)
We where talking during a rest point before we went up for our 3rd rep, and we had an idea to see what the time difference was like if we where to power walk up the hill rather than run it.
Oh my days, it took 10 seconds slower which isnt too bad but the pain!
Both of our legs where screaming at us, and my back was on fire......
So a note for all....running up a ascent is easier that walking it......scientifically proven last night. :D
Interesting but that might not be true for every one
As a hill steepens different people start walking at different times. I'm getting stronger and can run up steeper hills but if it's runnable I get dropped but the minute it gets too steep to run I pull it all back and pull away. I put it down to BG training and long legs? give me steep hills any day
If you take a sample of two it's going to be very weighted in one direction
eg How many legs do mammals have
Cow -4
Pony -4 (usually)
ergo all mammals have 4 legs;)
Yeap i was thinking that. Every climb is different and i guess it all depends on what the hill thorws at you.
But atleast i can say...but i shouldnt really because im loosing my advantage....that its easier to run all the way up winter hill than speed walk it.;)
25 mins easy trot along the cliff tops.
The sun was shining, birds singing, lambs bleating and the gentle sound of waves crashing onto the rocks below – It’s great to be alive
