A Tanka
Soft light this evening
bathes our little running group
displacing winter
liberating us from darkness
bringing joy and friendship back
A heart rending collection below....
1st day off sick in years
By lunchtime bored to tears
Could watch the vile
Jeremy Kyle
But would rather poke out my eyes with spears
A vile pestillence
called Viral pharyngitis
silences whippet
Man Flu. Only half
the world appreciates how
bravely we bear it.
Get well soon Old Whippet. Liked the Withnail/ Bill Shakespeare's nod ;)
weeks and weeks? Stuff that! Bored with it already. Allendale Challenge on Saturday is the goal.
I note the top quality sympathetic messages from the male forumites! Cheers DT, Merry and Harry. Proof - if ever needed of the point made in poem #3!
No doubt the girls are searching the on-line rhyme generator for words to go with 'pull yourself together' 'get a grip' and 'soft as shite'!
A butterfly's kiss.
Fleetingly she gives life to
The rooted flower.
Oh now there's a challenge if ever there was one :D
There once was a fell runner called Old Whippet
Who caught the deadly man flu poor poppet
He took to his bed
like a bear with a sore head
and moaned like a grumpy old whatsit
Now of course we all know
the suffering you guys go through
when struck with a case of the flu
So take from me a big dose of sympathy :p
and stay in that bed 'till you glow
P.s. :D
Pull yourself together you whimp
get a grip you pathetic shrimp
you're soft as shite
like a dog with no bite
it's just a bad cold
you must be getting old
get your lazy arse out
or you'll next catch the gout!!!
Hope you feel better soon OW
I don't think I can better Stef's retort nice one stef! but here goes....
Poor little poppett
with his fevered brow
a dry nose, limp paws
and head all a cowed
Here is an elvin tincture
made up of secret spells
a recipe for a super speedy
(in time for allendale) get well
If that doesn't work
there's no need to fret
A traditional geordie slap on the heed
will sort you our dear pet
Meanwhile another Tyneside "grafter"
is developing a corking migraine
triggered by extensive conjecture
about the human brain
So never mind yer man flu
Yer big soft geordie shite
Hot bath! hot curry! whiskey!
and a gentle "tuck in" for the night
You'll wake up back to normal.
Well as normal as only you can be.
And if you damn lucky,
You might be in receipt of elvin tea.
Get well soon dear Old hound :D:D:D
I just think there is something poetic and beautiful about the fact that all matter in the universe now has been there since the beginning of time and just changes its form from one thing to another. So in essence we are all living, breathing eternal creatures of stardust.

wise wise words. I'm onto it right away.
Ah Herakles, it doesn't take much to prompt me back in the direction of my hippy music. Your words (which I enjoyed) drew me to Joni Mitchell's lines....
We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.
I love that song by Nat King Cole one of my faves ;)

Two Souls.
Your eyes tell me truth,
Cerulean pools,
Gateway,
To your inner depths,
Your soul,your beauty,
Such wondrous simplicity,
Entwined with complex heart,
I whisper in your ear,
You smile,
We fall together,
Into the heather on the fellside,
Becoming one,
All worries,all problems,
Melt away,
Let it stay this way,
Always.
By Herakles.
Poet Love Mistress.
Freckle casts her spell,
Master of the poets,
She's put something in the water,
To make us feel lush,
It would seem to be,
Love potion number 7,
To make happy fellrunners,
Skip around the waltz,
I know your plan,
More love,less pain,
Oh what is thy bidding,
Mistress of Poets.
By Herakles.
How lovely Herakles....Mmmm what is my bidding? I must ponder.....oh i know....a snecklifter for every miles completed of the anni waltz, thank gawd i won't be driving back!!!! thanks Herakles, nothing would make me more chuffed than to see ALL fell poets there :) x
PS why number 7? i am intrigued.......
My favourite number but since the poem is intended for your pleasure it can mean whatever you would like it too. I wouldn't go for 7 fells in the one race as that might just be too much. Oh and OW what have condoms got to do with anything. Ho Ho.
Hurrah for the Highlander!
My bag is packed and ready to go. Early flight tomorrow
Gairloch Highlander
renders pensive fell runner
excited sleepless
Love.
Love in a heartbeat,
Permeates your very soul,
Infinite and intimate.
By Herakles.
Two weeks tomorrow and I spy five FPS runners entered for the Anniversary Waltz. It's getting exciting now. One more week of training then a quiet week beforehand me thinks. Good luck everyone.
