Cheers. Practising ascents on my hands and knees was just what I needed to prepare for Langdale...:D
Cheers guys for a great run. Weather was surprisingly kind given how the day started, think we should count ourselves lucky.
Before thanking me for the route info, let's wait and see what happens come race day: proof, pudding and all that!;)
Sausage butty at The Cabin was just what the doctor ordered, and beautiful as ever.:D
Great to finally meet you Tussocks, and good luck with Langdale. Martin, sounds like I'll be seeing you next week.
Will get the Garmin data on here later.
:)
Here you go:

Corrected ascent through SportTracks is 2,855ft. Loving it!
Sounds like you've recovered well from those frustrating knee problems softie. Good news :)
I mentioned the Burley Bridge Hike earlier today, but I've noticed I got the date wrong. It's the week before the FTP, and not in October.
A good warm up?!

Lucky enough to be doing 3 days work in Ambleside next week from Weds to Fri and was wondering if there may be any folk running Weds or Thurs evening. I will finish about 4.30/5ish each day and am based up at the Kelsick centre. So if anyone is around and fancies a steady, and I mean steady due to to crooked achilles, run out I would be glad of the company. Hopefully have time to get a few miles in off road before it gets too dark but more than happy (in fact disappointed not) to finish with head torches.
Cant really go later than 5ish as I am working with non running colleague who would be left waiting to go out to eat and drink lots
My pass with the Better Half doesn't let me off the leash enough!:o
My job means that I don't spend a great deal of time with The Family during the week, so unless there's a race or summat on I like to stick close to home so's I'm not gone too long.
However, somewhere reasonably local, if pre-arranged, I could start getting the brownie points in early (get my chores done beforehand) and get permission...over to you;)
Well where can you get to SS? From google maps, journey times from Nelson are 48 minutes to Ingleton, 45 to Horton in Ribblesdale and 35 minutes to Settle. As for runs, I have frigging hundreds to choose from ranging from easy 1 hourers to gut busting 5 hourers. A real goody for example is a 15 miler from Ingleton up Whernside and Ingleborough and back which takes me 3 hours give or take (2:45 on a really good day).
Ball back in your court ;)
Sounds good. Weekend after this one then? I'm already committed to Sunday's run, with a few CTJM disciples turning up.;)
Knee has got slightly worse since the weekend bashing on Pendle, so will have to see how it goes for this weekend. Gunna head to the pool tonight see if i can help it a bit!
Yeah i think your right !
Will get it checked out next week after i've seen what my Mum says.
I'll just stick to the bike and swim this week, keep any pressure off it.
Well I can definitely do the Sunday after next - in fact I'll probably be running this route that day whether you two can make it or not. Meet at Ingleton at say 8:30 or is that too early? I can usually get parked in Ingleton at the top of "Main Street" or Seed Hill just around the corner at that time on a Sunday. (Google map search for 'Ingleton Main Street' and Bob's your uncle).Quote:

Been out tonight for the first time since sunday.
Knee feels ok really, but i just keep thinking its not ok lol. Dam psychosomatic!
Anyways, should be alright for sundays trot over Pendle!
Sorry Ukh, I've got a family...thing, on Sunday. Better half's just reminded me. Soz.
After my run round with Stolly & Alf, I bumped into another runner who was going to do this route, but starting at 9. She's on here as Carr, but not a regular. Might be worth a PM?
Have a good one, and let us know how your knee holds up.
Gary
Went over a couple of times this weekend, found a brilliant line down to the 2nd big climb, well, its basically a small path that brings you out right at the CP where you cross the stream...Magic!
Will show you next time its recced.
Knee 80% though, which is not bad.
Which one are you calling the second big climb, UKH? The second on the FTP route, or on the recce route we did last week?
On the TOP Pendle map, from CP6 to CP7, where we sort of made our own lines down a really hard bit of the hill!
We ran along the righthand side of the wall through the bogs then at the wall corner turned left and descended, whereas this different route, cuts out all the bogs and drops you perfectly on a nice little path to the stream at CP7.
Will show you if your over from another recce! Obviously the path will be known by the Clayton boys, but it deffo cuts time, and saves the legs, therefore helpful at that stage of the tour no doubt!
This week's CTJM is actually Care to Join Stolly?:

Normal Pendling service will be resumed Sunday 25th. Most likely 0800 from Barley, and given the impending Tour of Pendle, will probably be a recce of the route (maybe full, if not second half).
Just thought I'd repost this for this Sunday. I'll tentatively say it's gonna be a Full Tour (permission from BH pending ;)). If I don't get permission I'll join you for most of it, CP6 or something.
Can I ask, if anyone is turning up and you own any of the sacks below, could you bring them along for me to look at? Help me make my mind up for Xmas? A cheeky cheers, in advance!;)
OMM Adventure Light 20l
OMM Classic Marathon 25/32l
I8 Race Pro 30l
I8 Elite 25l
I was thinking about a good run out on Sunday and a Full-ish TOP sounds good so I'm in. I suspect I'm slower than you softie but if I bring my OMM will you wait for me? ;):D
Genuinely excited at the thought of finally meeting you DT, looking forward to it!:D
Wouldn't count on my speed mate (I probably talk a better run than I actually run it;)), but the focus is defo on the social and some light training, so all at the pace of the slowest.:)
Will be there for this. Looking forward to seeing the whole route. :)
I just hope this beer festival in Great Harwood is on the Friday night and not saturday!
Will be properly kitted out for this run as well, courtesy of Aldi :)
Just found out the beer festival is on saturday night, so might be having to head up later on Sunday.
Ah well, there's always next week! :)
