With hole.
lets hope the exposure for the race doesnt turn into any extra entries next year - i am gunning for a sub 9h 30!:D
Oh and i agree - the high peak is an amazing event and experience for everyone involved, why tarnish that with arguments about an unfortunate accident?!!?
There are some miserable gets out there!
cheers buddy, was a bit gutted not to sneak in under 10 hours as we did fanny about a bit at times! one of our lads had to take four dumps, yes thats right FOUR!
he is banned from eating next year!
Maybe catch up with you at another challenge type event - bob graham for me in May so winding up for that from now
Four? That's even more than Grouse.
more importantly he forgot any bog paper so he ended up experimenting with snow, heather and eventually just sliding his arse along the ground - like a dog with an awkward itch! :)
see with some forward planning we may have clinched fourth spot and been moisturised to boot! :p
Sphagnum moss good, bracken bad.
(Errr... so Grouse tells me).
You will have to get Mrs Second to Last to organise your backpacks next year, you have probably never noticed on the club runs but she always has at least 2 packets of tissues packed in her bum bag. I think she considers them mandatory FRA kit - but I wouldn't want to open a can of worms on that one. Although I imagine worms is possible outcome of moss and/or bracken.
Well I'm not setting a foot on Bleaklow now until we've had a good days rain.
I knew we would get back to some serious shit on this thread.
Anyway for all you overweight fellrunners here is some proof on the dangers of........ well we've just been through all that :p

I trying to shift a bad cold hence the mauvais humour
well the last few days of posts have been interesting reading and i will opt to stay clear of that debate.
thanks to the organisers for a great race, it was my first HPM and i thoroughly enjoyed it. The marshalls at the checkpoints were a welcome site and always had words of encouragement.
Thanks to IDP for helping finding us a stand in runner, who turned out to be a machine, he only seemed to know one pace never slower and never faster but very constant.
hopefully we will be back next year, if the HPM will have us as im sure we could go a lot faster..
we finished 19th in 12hrs 14minutes
Anyone else still hungry and tired after this? I've not stopped eating since. Or yawning.
Put on half a stone as usual.
Unlike Marg who lost half a stone with his unscheduled stops en route...:D
Surely that should be Brat' Packs;)...
We had a slow one too...
(Hmmmmmmm?!)
But, daft to the core..
I'm sure we will...
Be back....
And, of course a very very very big thank-you indeed to Sheff' Uni HPC & their Crazy Daft Mad Mates & truly ace Long Term Supporters... who make the DW/HPM one of the best Night & Days' Out...with wilderness to die for.....when you get a moment (next year!) to look around:D.
Real Kracker this year, plenty of superb vistas (clear & murky!), all deeply etched inside for a long time to come, we are of course very lucky...I know we know...
HPM 4/5 March 2011: Entries close next Tuesday. I wonder if lots of people have sent in entries.
ydt
Presume they have (isn't it always oversubscribed?) but not me this year :w00t:
Always seems like a good idea in November haha.
application is in for 2011HPM, just the wait now to see if were in..
Anyone else mad enough to have entered ???
If we get in we'll have a full and democratic discussion regarding the team name :)
I might be up for that Ian, but won't know until pretty near the time....
I got in last year but couldn't run and had to give my place up. If anyone is looking for a team member that isn't a racing machine looking to win, I'd like to give it a go.
this will be our second year fingers crossd..
going with a mixed team this year, weather permitting we are hoping for a good time...
