A very cold run out with a mate last night from Holme village. Towards Isle o' Skye road then up to Black Hill. Lots of snow drifts and black ice, most of the PW up there is still covered. 1h 40mins.
A fading headtorch battery and strong icy wind didn't help matters... Made the pint in the pub afterwards all the more tasty! :p
Fairly hilly road run last night, trying out some new shoes - NB 757s
about 5 miles, 3 decent sized climbs, probably about 900' all in. Shoes seem good - first pair of road shoes I've ever owned, but I've got less leg ache than I'd have running in my old knackered XC shoes I usually use.
Im going for a road run tonight.
A friend of mine requires my servics to 'get him fit'......i havent run on the roads in over a year so i suppose it cant hurt to try something new - unless it hurts my knees of course.
bloody roads.
Just got out after a few days of sickness and did 12x200 hill reps which went down very nicely, with 6 mile of biking to get to it. Out for 5 more easy miles later on when I've dried out.
Si
I like road running alot now
9.55 miles....on the road.
Ran 3 miles to my mates, ran 3 miles with him, then ran home-3.55 miles.
Jesus i cant believe how sore my legs are, obviously not used to the impact of the road.
A Snowy 10 miles up cut gate & down to Cranberry Clough, up to Wilfrey edge, along Howden Edge & back down Cut Gate to the top Langsett car park. Snow chains on my shoes allowed me to climb the snow slope up wilfrey edge.
5 and a half recovery miles. The view of the fields submerged by the Severn in flood is always a sight to behold when crossing Carrington bridge.
Nope, I reckon the Friday rain might have smoothed them away.Quote:
Good effort Rodders. did you see the tracks of 30 dark peakers crossing CG before bull clough.
I have a video of going up Wilfery Edge up to the Cornices. I can't link to it as Facebook doesn't allow it.
6 miles from home mostly off-road - finally got the roclites muddy:D
Bowderdale (Howgills) up West Fell along to The Calf, Hare Shaw and up Yarlside, Kensgriff, Randygill Top (yipee!), Hooksey, Bowderdle Beck and Bowderdale. About 11 miles, 2 hours 41 mins. Not a soul spotted all day - bliss:D First longish run since the SNOW arrived.
7.5 mile Box Hill Fell race and a 90 min walk around Box Hill with my Dad after. Good day out, got two prizes for 3rd individual and 1st team. Ale and chocs gratefully received. Get in there you Striders.
About 6 miles on Kinder- cold and wet again.
8-10 miles (?) predominantly off road and through some proper mudbaths. Guess I'm back running (and loving it:D)
Northern XC yesterday, so about 7 miles on parks with a few short steep climbs, I guess it counts as a tempo sess, then easy 6 on fells above Langsett today, feeling slow but happy. Still some deep snow up there

9.5 miles long and slow, 1hr 40, mostly on roads but also down cold flooded lanes which stank.
ran the sandstone trail from Frodsham to Bickerton.Great run,Only down side was cold and wet.was out for little over 3 and half hours.
Just over five miles and 930 feet ascent/decent. Up the Wessenden valley, along the Pennine Way up Blakely Clough, (where it started snowing), accross Black Moss Res wall (it is still frozen). I nipped over Bobus, past Warcock & back into Marsden. Nice bonus trip out. My last three trips out I have averaged 165 BPM, I thing my Garmin chest strap needs new batteries!
