There once was a Harry from Kendal
Read the works of that Darwin and Mendel
He thought evolution
A neater solution
Than Creationist texts which are mental
There was a sneckliftering lass
Who ran all the time with a glass
When someone asked why
She gave out a cry
"There's a pub down the road that's first class!"
Phew!
There was a sneckliftering lass
Who ran all the time with a glass
When someone asked why
She gave out a cry
"I find that newcastle broon ale is too crass!"
BOOM BOOM!!!!!!! (again) :D
There once was a guy Merrylegs
Who lived on just pasties from Greggs
When out daily running
All knew he was coming
Due to the whiff of bad eggs
Nothing personal - I just have to go with what rhymes! :D
A sobering tale of Borrowdale and 3 Shires.....
Spying a runner ahead
Whippet followed where ever he led
Got lost in the cloud
Now he's never too proud
To get the map out instead.
I know that Mossdog the athlete
Is never found dragging his feet
He trains chasing cattle
I just know one day that’ll
End up in a frantic retreat
Old Whippet, I’d heard folks admire
Knew lots of shortcuts on 3 Shires
So I followed the chap
And finished in Shap
So he had no clue it transpires
This remarkable poetry thread
Which by hundreds has been read
With many a rhyme
From the daft to sublime
Is the very best thing since sliced bread
HHH you are indeed lucky
To have followed a runner so plucky
For very next day
So I've heard say
He ended up in Kentucky
and today's prize for the best limerick goes jointly to Old Whippet and Harry H Howgill....clap, clap, clap, speech speeech, encore....:D
Excellent work chaps!
with a commendation to Southernsoftie notably for the use of the word Kendal in a limerick.
i reckon x runner would be good at this type of stuff...x runner ?
we had a today's limerick thread somewhere but it all went a bit wrong!!! Some eventually got the hang of it though while others didn't.....I think the problems arose when we tried to take each line in turn!!
Found it....although it was Merrys poem that had me in stitches....not the winter one although that was funny too!!

I couldn't leave Derby Tup out, but I promise this'll be my last.
DT, who runs for Wharfedale
Went to China, or so goes the tale
Flew BA first class
Nicked a fine champagne glass
And was deported by second class mail
noooo.....don't stop!!! It's very entertaining and I am just trying to find words to rhyme with Kendal and Howgill.
ps I couldn't get the poem generator to work and I'm a bit disappointed as I put in lots of surreal keywords plus some interesting body parts.
ooo did you say encore?
Old Whippet - a fell running Hound
Goes out with a leap and a bound
O'er streams and ghylls
Mountains and hills
And some day the Bob Graham round.
Ok Ok that's all.
I think today, we've had domestic violence, dessicated love unfulfilled, pastoral delights, other stuff i can't remember as well as a flurry of limericks.
What a place this poetry corner is. Just wished that more words rhymed with whippet.
