Hi,
Two of my team have had to drop out! Need replacements asap!
From the recce times I think we'll get round in 11-12hrs. Would prefer if you've done the event before or know the route well.
edit: Team now full!
Andrew... sent you a PM
did you make the cut then?
yey finally on a team, thanks Andrew...
Man down?
Any team seeking a competent (honest!) replacement feel free to get in touch!
Cheers
Paul (DPFR)
UPDATE - I now have a place
...the Dark Peak is VERY gloopy....slip slide away all you bog trotters!!!! If it doesn't freeze then the race will be interesting in terms of pace! Good luck all.
Yup, I can confirm it is definitely not frozen up there, just slushy, wet, boggy and 'orrid.
...when you're all groaning about the gloop next weekend in the Peak.....remember:http://yukon-news.com/sports/21822/
Mark Hines also took part in the race and I've just finished reading his book about his participation in the Yukon Ultra several years ago. It's worth reading.
Been for a run this morning from snake pass across to Edale. The going is very tough, lots of standing water and plenty of mud. Don't think it's going to change much before next Friday. Hoping we get a good clear night.
Clear or not, there won't be any moonlight to help.
We normally get to the Snake at around dusk and are normally very close to the lead at that point. From then on it's more runnable and other teams pull away.
I see we're starting just behind you so should see each other a bit.
Looking forwards to it. Sounds like it will be worst conditions for a few years..
those flags on the way to Mill Hill, were in fact more like a river on Saturday morning.. wet feet all around !!!!
Team Lazy Pie Eaters has had another drop out :-( I think it was an overcooked meat and 'taty pie that dropped on his foot.
Anyway - I have a last minute place available. *** No longer available - got a replacement sorted :-)
If anymore get injured the team will be like my Grandad's old brush (60 years he had it. Had to change the head and handle a few times mind, but it lasted sixty years :)

More news from Gloop land....although temps on Outer Egde this morning (7.00am) were just above 0 the warm morning means that gloop is getting more gloopy. Having met some folk from Glossop - the old norse being Gloopsop - meaning gloopy like land...on Bleaklow we agreed that the going on early hours of Saturday will be VERY gloopy indeed! I hear www.Racekit.co.uk have some outer wear that might be helpful in such conditions!!! Be seeing you up there Saturday....possibly...
I've had a quick look at the website, and I can't see any underwater quad bikes listed.
Hi all, I hope to see some of you Friday. I'm a member of the Gixerjunnkies team, this will be our first HPM. We have recce'd the whole course, our last one was in the snow two weeks ago which made seeing the flagstones tricky but we got round with out any wrong turns. Those pete bogs are special, I went in up to my backside on one occasion.
**SOME USEFUL INFORMATION FOR RUNNERS**
After a chat with the Race organisors Woodhead MRT have offered to be "in the vicinity" on Friday night, they will be out on the course running a night navigation excerise followed by a high level bivvy and hopefully an exercise search in the Early hours.
This is to give you some warning that you may see torches off route. They will be in groups of at least 5 in full MR kit(hi vis taped jackets etc) with big packs and moving slowly. There will be 3 sections(groups) out. should you need help due to an accident you can call 999 or the RO or if you can see one of the parties you can contact or signal them in the usual manor.
They will only be along the route between Abbey Brook to Swains head, It's quite possible you won't see them at all but rest assured they are out there enjoying the night just like you....:)
Any Q's please let me know
Sounds a bit bonkers to me! surely there are others places to be for such an exercise and not on or too near the race route?
Weather looking surprisingly good for a HPM. if it would only dry out underfoot.
No chance of that Ian....having returned from Gloopsville earlier....surface water, chocolate cake like peat mud abounds!!!
We're looking for a runner as one of our team has dropped out with a calf injury. We've come in the top 3 in the last few years and are hoping to get round in the 9 to 9.5 hour timeframe. If you're interested in running that sort of time and looking for a step out on Friday night in the mud, please PM me or reply to this thread.
The three people we do have in the team are me (Martin Beale), Tim Laney and Martin Humphreys. We think we're a sociable group of guys!

just been for a walk up to Howden, Completely white over with hoar frost, Gound semi frozen, I.E tussocks frozen, bogs not!(but getting there) freezing fog but the sun looked like it was fighting through. if it freezes tonoght and tomorrow if could be firm but rough going as opposed to Wet and rough going.
that sounds much better Ian... watched the weather forecast and it shows low temperatures for tomorrow night. got to be better than sinking in to those bogs!
Anyone out there want a night out with the Avon Mountain Athletes? Can't guarantee much beer, but we all know its going to get dirty out there ...
Seriously - we are suddenly a man short, so if there's someone who wants a run contact me or Zlod for details!
I will mate...point the compass south and you'll get of the hill..or North or...

I can £24 a case of 12 Rescue Ales.
You going to Spykes lecture tonight?
I'll be there.
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/loutdoor..._pressure.html The mountain forcast is looking quite favourable for freezing temperatures at the moment.

Hi, We're in need of a runner to join a girl's team for the HPM! Any runner welcome
although we're not aiming for a speedy time - we'd be more than happy to get round in one piece! One of our runners has had to drop out at the last minute due to an injury.
If you're interested please text/phone me (Sarah) on 07582242855. Thanks.
