Echo that! Thanks for sorting it out so quickly folks.

So far I have one person coming along to my leg 3 recce on Saturday. Anyone else coming to any of our guided recces?
Great thanks. Might be worth them texting the relevant recce leader to let them know. As for me, I'm not mortally wounded....I just hope that your runners don't miss the crucial (but unmarked) turns along the way.
Cool. If you've run it before, I'm sure there won't be a problem. We have a few go wrong every year though.
I'm copying this from the general threads.
"Anyone running leg 5 of the Calderdale Way Relay should be aware that there is a herd of cattle with a bull in the fields between Hunter Hill and Stod Fold. I'm told that he is fine when with his girlfriends but, I have to confess, I'm wary of running through there myself."
You were with me at the time :D (see Was It You) thread.
Cor, just recce'd leg 5 last night; that's a wee beastie in parts for the length of it. Mostly bovine free although an 'uge bull with cows in the field near Goose Clough, didn't seem to fussed when we went past though.
Some mega slippy bits in that weather, especially the steps from just before the old scout hall down to the bridge. Couple with the barbed wire, extreme care or brave stupidity is required (I'm opting for the former).
Aye, that's the fella. He's a big boy. He hasn't ever bothered me but when he was stood right across the path once I made a half mile detour to avoid the bugger.
Oh, and you are right. The steps below Scout Hall are lethal in the wet...really quite dangerous. Hurt myself quite badly there once. I tell you what though, I think Leg 4 is harder.
Yea he may not be that chuffed once 150+ runners have been past
I haven't done Leg 4, but have been told the same by a few people, looks easy enough to me :)
Ok, last message from me before tomorrow's 30th edition of the Calderdale Way Relay. Rain looks a near certainty for much of the race so please, please, please all make sure that your teams are carrying their kit this year. We really do not want any DQs. The conditions should be good for running though. Proper spring weather....sunshine and showers. The wind will be gusting from the WSW, so you'll feel it on Norland Moor and Stoodley. The best of the sunshine will be in the morning. Whatever the conditions, everyone should have a great day out and we hope to see you all for a pint, pie and peas etc down at Heath Rugby Club in the afternoon. There's usually a good atmosphere and, hopefully, we'll be handing out some of our bonus prizes.
I know you are all grown ups but a repeat of a couple of warnings for Leg 5 runners. The stone steps going down Shibden Valley below Scout Hall will be lethal if wet. And be aware of the cows and the bull at Stod Fold.
Good luck all from all the CWR team at Halifax Harriers. And those doing Leg 3 and 4, I'll see you all up at Blackshaw Head. Someone buy me a cuppa and a bun. :D
I'm on leg four so I'll see you there manothemoors
Looking a tad moist and blowy out there today. I will be doing Leg 2, have a goodun everyone :D
Leg 6 for me. The team I'm in won't beat the cut-off so I have the luxury of knowing my start time!
Hope you all have a great day. I miss the CWR, doing leg 1 setting off in semi darkness was one of the most enjoyable runs I've done. Since the date change we've never managed to get enough interested for a team
You never know Tussockface. Leg 5 runners I.e. Me might have to put on a sprint for the ruddy bull they keep mentioning! See you with the baton!!
In order to get the baton round, we'd need an irascible bull to motivate performance on every Leg.
Do you think the red vests are designed to annoy the livestock AND disguise the bloodstains?!
Good luck!
Calder Valley men set off on leg 3 (Max Wharton & Brad Travis) with a 4 minute lead.
Wharfedale 2nd at the minute
CV 13 mins up at end of leg 4
Well done CV won at a canter.
Yes very well done Calder http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0676084c.gif and well done to all teams today, no matter what your running ability is you get something out of this relay race. A big thanks to Halifax Harriers and all their marshalls/helpers (some from other clubs) who put this great event on
This really is a cracking event, what's not to like about partaking in a superbly organised fell relay with likemind people? Thanks to all involved and very well done CVFR.
Anyone know who the first female and mixed teams were?
Max and Brad ran 34.12 for leg 3 which, in today's conditions, was outstanding. I think that nets them the bonus prize....though they are still a little short of Steven Halliday and Kenny Stirrat's leg record. Brilliant run nontheless. Well done to Calder Valley for showing that there are still teams capable of getting round in under 6 hours. Again, a terrific performance in the conditions.
First mixed team was P & B, so I'm told. Putting Ilkley in 2nd place. I ran the last 4 miles or so with 2 of their ladies. Excellent runners.
Thanks Halifax Harriers for another great event. :)
Some photos from Leg 5 approaching St John's Cross farm. Sorry missed the first teams.

Well done Max and Brad that's outstanding considering conditions. Told you they would do it:p
Photos will be appearing on the Halifax Harriers flickr over the coming hours. First lot are already up.

2 sets of photos on http://www.woodentops.org.uk/ from Leg 4
Looking at feedback on the internet it seems like Barlick finished 3rd. That's well impressive for a club that's only been in existence for 18 months. Well done the Chewy's and their merry band of runners.
Agreed Darren, one of several quite brilliant performances today.
