Cor, just recce'd leg 5 last night; that's a wee beastie in parts for the length of it. Mostly bovine free although an 'uge bull with cows in the field near Goose Clough, didn't seem to fussed when we went past though.
Some mega slippy bits in that weather, especially the steps from just before the old scout hall down to the bridge. Couple with the barbed wire, extreme care or brave stupidity is required (I'm opting for the former).

Aye, that's the fella. He's a big boy. He hasn't ever bothered me but when he was stood right across the path once I made a half mile detour to avoid the bugger.

Oh, and you are right. The steps below Scout Hall are lethal in the wet...really quite dangerous. Hurt myself quite badly there once. I tell you what though, I think Leg 4 is harder.

Yea he may not be that chuffed once 150+ runners have been past

I haven't done Leg 4, but have been told the same by a few people, looks easy enough to me

Ok, last message from me before tomorrow's 30th edition of the Calderdale Way Relay. Rain looks a near certainty for much of the race so please, please, please all make sure that your teams are carrying their kit this year. We really do not want any DQs. The conditions should be good for running though. Proper spring weather....sunshine and showers. The wind will be gusting from the WSW, so you'll feel it on Norland Moor and Stoodley. The best of the sunshine will be in the morning. Whatever the conditions, everyone should have a great day out and we hope to see you all for a pint, pie and peas etc down at Heath Rugby Club in the afternoon. There's usually a good atmosphere and, hopefully, we'll be handing out some of our bonus prizes.
I know you are all grown ups but a repeat of a couple of warnings for Leg 5 runners. The stone steps going down Shibden Valley below Scout Hall will be lethal if wet. And be aware of the cows and the bull at Stod Fold.
Good luck all from all the CWR team at Halifax Harriers. And those doing Leg 3 and 4, I'll see you all up at Blackshaw Head. Someone buy me a cuppa and a bun.

Leg 6 for me. The team I'm in won't beat the cut-off so I have the luxury of knowing my start time!

Hope you all have a great day. I miss the CWR, doing leg 1 setting off in semi darkness was one of the most enjoyable runs I've done. Since the date change we've never managed to get enough interested for a team
