I have found the lyrics for another song I posted earlier:
The Inverary Harriers
It could equally apply to the XOTF thread:D

does he run quick or think slow
the former I'm sure

Good evening all, I am really enjoying the haiku wonderful stuff...tonight i fear I am too tired to write any verse at all so am just going to sit back and delight in all of your good stuff! by the way DT i love your (new?) signature, find it uplifting every time i see it!.....Ok off to pick out some poetry to post...on the way home feeling in need of nourishment i purchased two new poetry books a margaret atwood collection and "poems for life" penguin collection. THe latter has got some lovely birth poems HHH wish I had found it earlier! at some juncture i will post....off to peruse, laters
Busy Woman Dreams
Tomorrow,
With a careless air,
I shall say,
I will be gone for the day!
I shall put on my blue gown,
And in leisured way
Go to town.
There, I shall stop
At the newly opened shop
Where they keep such lovely things,
And, in unhurried way
Choose from some intriguing place
A richly colored robe,
Or some fine old lace;
Then, I shall browse
In the bookstand nearby,
Selecting some new book...
Tomorrow, I shall put
All waiting tasks upon the shelf
And spend one easy, carefree day
With my own self.

The good thing about anthologies (i think) is you discover poets you may have never come across before...i liked this short and sweet one by Lemn Sissay
Love Poem
You remind me
define me
incline me.
If you died
I'd.
I also found something else nice by him which made me think past the cold weather to warmer times....

hope you liked it as much as i did!:)
two women, six men, we run
past trees that dance in the wind
rhythmic feet strike the ground
our breath becomes one breath
my knotted stomach and silent day fades
a lone wolf back in the pack
not a haiku, not really anything much but anyway....
on the contrary Hes I think this conjures a wonderful image! love the line "my knotted stomach and silent day fades" and "past trees that dance in the wind" in fact pretty much all of it i love...
wish i had been there (although the blue gown may have got a bit hammered and i might have dropped a few poetry books!!!) ;)
a birth poem from the master, can't believe i didn't find it at the time but better late than never!
from spiralling ecstatically this
e e cummings
from spiralling ecstatically this
proud nowhere of earth’s most prodigious night
blossoms a newborn babe: around him, eyes
-gifted with every keener appetite
than mere unmiracle can quite appease-
humbly in their imagined bodies kneel
(over time space doom dream while floats the whole
perhapsless mystery of paradise)
mind without soul may blast some universe
to might have been, and stop ten thousand stars
but not one heartbeat of this child; nor shall
even prevail a million questionings
against the silence of his mother’s smile
whose only secret all creation sings
Thank you both. You are very sweet. I really like both your latest posts. That little love poem is a brilliant. Freckle, you would have been the belle of the ball if you'd come running with you gown and poetry books...
more like a fairy elephant i am sure! ...but thanks for the optimism...if there is ever a fell poetic society bash perhaps i will donn such an outfit for a laff!...anyway, where is everyone else tonight? i was hoping to see some new and old faces around again! bed time soon for me i think :)

Ha ha ha...like it! Snow White is it? I am going to admit something that I may regret. I had to dress up as Alice in Wonderland for the Masham Arts Festival and help host a mad hatter's tea party for 60 under sixes. I was a big hit...mainly with the older gentlemen (including a vicar)...the little ones preferred the dormouse!
I reused the costume for halloween and just added make-up to become Vampire Alice...there's pictures of that too!

wears a golden ring.
He carries a red valise
in which two pairs of shoes
walk the inner edge.

The Poetry God says
Do you want to be here or not?
If you fear you are alone
a poem is a kind of love.
We lie down together
in a faded room.
We get on with the business
of filling the empty page.
