The Poetry God

has golden hair,
wears a golden ring.

He carries a red valise
in which two pairs of shoes

walk the inner edge.
He likes things

The Poetry God says
Do you want to be here or not?

If you fear you are alone
a poem is a kind of love.

We lie down together
in a faded room.

We get on with the business
of filling the empty page.
