That's something I do quite often to keep the motivation going...that said today just 5 miles on the same old valley & field paths:D

feet up just watching F1, no running, rest till tuesday! :)
13 mile on bike folowed by a 5k round local park.
I fancy a tri but I will have to work on the swimming and the jelly legs when going from bike to running.
There's more bloody cycling on this thread than running!
36 mins yesterday, 35 mins today. It's all crap. I think I should take up cycling....
Very hot over here at the moment. Family over for a week so not much serious training going on. Just 30mins at lunchtime in scorching sun - not my thing this heat
10 mile road race yesterday done and dusted in 1.19:D
felt pleased with that as averaged just over 7 and a half minute miling all the way round which is ok for a slow coach like me!!
Will go for a recovery run later on but suprisingly my legs feel really good today - think this running thing is actually starting to work:rolleyes:
New mileage week starts today but last week managed to clock up just under 50 admittedly 17 of those were on the Borrowdale recce and my legs took some time to recover:eek:
RR in my experience there are 2 kinds of mountain biker, firstly the ones who are the equivalent of us but on bikes, secondly the ones who just want to go downhill...it'll be mostly the latter you see pushing unless its a ridiculously steep hill. They are also the ones who go to ski resorts in summer and get the ski lift up and 'free wheel' down.
5 miles early this morning, very cold setting off!
feet up and lemsip, bloody cold!  just not sure where it came from last i knew it was heyfever on friday..
12 reps of the Helm, 5 mins up & down.
final day of taking it easy post marathon. Went to Scotland (!) to see the Falkirk wheel.
Some hard work planned for this coming week though
2½ hours on Darwen Moor this morning. Very cold and occasional hail showers.
Was attacked by a small dog (on a lead) near Darwen Tower. Luckily it sunk it's teeth into my shorts and not me.
The owner apologised and I jogged off muttering something or other and wondering whether I should have asked for compensation for the damage to my shorts. Arriving back at the car an hour later the dog owner ran up to me, saying she was glad she'd seen me again and gave me £10 for a new pair of shorts. I feel a bit guilty now!
16 by 400m in sets of four. 60secs between reps 3 mins between sets.
this was something of a departure from my marathon training of the last 5 months but as the long hard mileage weeks will soon return i'm keen to do some faster stuff for a month or so.
9 miles earlier
all i an say is if 4 x days of drinking does this to your body it must be hard work being an alchoholic:(
10 mile tonight with 16 x 1min efforts of 30 seconds jog recovery.
right you lot!
I'm going to try and go for a run tonight!
After a night eating chocolate and drinking red wine yesterday (thou I didn't sucumb to watching sex in the city)
So I'm off to the local park to try a couple of laps!
Here's hoping!
90mins run...... in the fells!!!!!
i know, i know ,not like me eh?
Noticed that next Wednesday is Blencathra fell race so decided to go over that way to get some terrain practice in as it must be a good 4 months or so since i last was on the fells.
I dont know what the race route is but I know where it starts and I know where the summit is (land finishes, clouds start) so I must have been over at least part of the course tonight.
monday 45 mins
tues 12 x 400 off 1 min rec. averaging 65 secs
wed 51 mins
Monday 9 miles including Austwick Amble.
Tuesday - nowt - was worried about having to contribute to today's injuries thread again following left calf cramping up about 300 metres from race finish on monday:( .
Today - an easy mostly flat 3.25 miles - both calves tight but no problems while running.:)
7 miles last night
totall crop
stopped twice , my knee hurt:(
well went for my run!
Managed about 350 yards!
Knee started to hurt so packed it in and went out on my bike for an hour!
Wasn't as bad as before so think its on the mend, just think it might take another couple of weeks!
On the plus side I'm racking up loads of miles on the bike! :D
:( bad noos on the knee calf
right i am off out for a run
I am back :D (back from my run and back on the running band wagon PHEW!)
A little 3 mile hilly run to tempt the hamstring back to full working order and then a great 100 miler on the bike at just under 19mph average. Stayed dry and sunny all the way :D
A nice round trip from Keighley to Cliffe Castle then Jubliee Tower before dropping down to Steeton then Silsden and back to Keighley on the canal bank.
Ducks, swans, heron, rabbits, hedgehog and a stoat I think were all spoted and enjoyed on the warm afternoon.
Oh I did 9 mile on my nature trail in 80 minutes:cool:
Club fell run from Taxal tonight. It's been fine all day and now it's beginning to thunder.
Expect there will be a downpour soon!:(
How far does this massive cycle compare to running? How far would I have to run and at what speed to equate to what you have just done? And in my book, what you have just dne seems incrediable!
I did 15 minutes warm up, 25 minuted tempo run at about 90% of 10k race pace, if not quicker at times, and then a nice 25 minute warm down. Covered over 10 miles in total.
It's difficult to compare - I reckon a sub hour for a 25 mile TT is similar to a sub hour 10 mile road race. Today's average HR was 137 (my max 192) but most of my runs are 150bph+ average. I would say that todays ride was similar to a 2 1/2 hour run in the fells with a 155 average but that is just my perception. Today's climbing was only about 3500' so not too hilly really. 'Massive' is also relevant as a 75 mile cycle is what I would call a 'normal' ride but most of my runs are <8 miles yet with around 30 miles a week running I used to make the top 10 on a regular basis but with biking I struggle to make the top 3rd of the field in races - It's all good fun though :o
Just did 5 miles last night but it was lots of stopping and starting and running round in circles! Yep another clue finding orienteering charidee run!
I got stung by a bee too:eek: Wouldn't mind but I was minding my own business no where near any flowers and on a road!!
Now if I was wandering aimlessly through a meadow I may have been a bit more understanding of said bee but as it happens I hope the thing had a very nasty accident:mad: My arm is a right mess (even though I had long sleves on):(
anyway, decided to go off and do my first ever marathon on saturday - Wharfedale, so guess I better rest until then and go off and eat lots of pasta! do jam donuts have the same effect?:D
knee a bit better after some stretches at dinnertime at work
11miles tonight at steady pace
feel a lot better now
6 miles along the canal with the boss. I think I may have ran too fast for him...there goes my raise! :o
tonight 400's 300's then 15 minutes doing paarlauf's in 2's :D
