Grey seal in Whitby harbour t'other day larking about
Buzzards swooping around north of Birmingham. Probably looking to attack the Baggies team bus as it was preparing to leave the training ground!
Grey Heron spotted today on the river Washburn
Bats a plenty spotted on the canal towpath between Marsden & Slawit. A heron also. Yesterday I spotted a mountain Hare near Heyden Head, Black Hill which had started to go white already!

Both Hare we saw on Kinder today were getting whiter. Winter draws on!
Spotted a couple on Bleaklow today getting into their winter coats.
Red kite being mobbed by 2 rooks in the air near Eccup Reservoir. Seemed to be getting the worst of it. I heard strange shrill dismayed cries which I think must have come from the kite. There was also a very loud cawing coming from the wood - as if the commanding officer of the rooks was urging on his troops.
sat at baildon train station when a stoat came out from one side of track to the other with something in its mouth(think a slug)
not really a rural location.
A deer came bounding across the path and a grey heron flew up from the side a little further on as a ran along the bridleway between Hall Lane and Radcliffe Rd this morning. Somehow it's doubly pleasing to see them in such non-remote areas.
A late Wheatear on the summit of Wards Stone today and a Merlin low over the N flank of Clougha.
3 and a half hours out on Bowland and we didn't see a soul!
Anyone seen any otters?:sneaky: I've yet to see any, despite the fact they are meant to be in every county, I haven't seen one yet!!!!
Saw one this year, waitin for the ferry from Jura to Islay.
Heehee
saw a heron this morning, flying low over the road, I'm sure it had a fish in it's mouth but not being a regular on fishermans blues couldn't tell you if it was a Herring or a sprat.

A pair of raven and several fieldfare over Bowfell today. Several brown birds flushed too. Like big snipe. Woodcock obvious thought, but not 2500ft up on fell side surely! Any thoughts please?
lesser spotted woodpecker visited today as did the kingfisher.
i have heard an owl recently but not yet seen it.
Aww I love your mouse pictures wharfee.....does he get the peanut butter stuck in his whiskers?!!! :closed:
Been feeling a bit low for the past few days but it just shows how restorative nature can be. Just had an extremely muddy run in magical Hackfall woods and stopped to take it all in for a few moments. In those moments I saw a flock of long tailed tits, blue tits, great tits, two squirrels, a lesser spotted woodpecker, a nuthatch and a pair of jays! Feel loads better now (and I didn't fall over once!).
Cheer thissen up wi' a gander at some o'my latest pics...

Absolutely stunning photos Wharfee, thanks for posting the link. I really love the light and texture that you have captured and the skein of geese and jumping salmon are those kind of moments in nature that are so difficult to record accurately but you've managed beautifully. Very very inspiring!!!:D
running along the canal,
watched a squirrel jump into the water and swim to the other side, never seen that before.
i really should take a camera along with me.
cracking snaps.
got to love the salmon for its indefatigability.
not so much for its flesh! show me the bream!:p
Great photos!
Saw a goldcrest in woods at bottom of Crimsworth Dean, Hebden Bridge this morning......fab
Cracking view of a male sparrowhawk in the garden this morning.
It spent about 10 minutes in our maple tree plucking a prey item.
Goldcrest, nuthatch and roe deer in the woods below Loughrigg this afternoon.
