Good luck every one, sorry I can't be there, child minding duties.....
Very challenging race today. i'm totally knackered.
Thanks very much to the clayton lads for organising a cracking event.
Well done to all the forumites who ran.
Hope Emi's leg is ok.
Has emi had a fall? its a bloody killer that race, I slithered up the big end like a worm... very painful.
What a turn out eh.
Good to see Jamie, stan and other forumites who I dont know names yet.
Anyone lose a blue and white bandana, I picked one up near checkpoint 5?
I also saw a penguin cuddly toy later on, but couldn't bend down to grab it, too many people pushing my back.
Anyone who runs the tour deserves a bloody t-shirt eh.
well done everyone.
Loved that. I'll be back again next year.
Now for a few days rest. :o
Well done to everyone who got round & to those who went quicker than last year, some good times I reckon. Hope you're ok Em?
I am sat with an icepack on my calf following a misshap somewhere between checkpoint 1 & 2. :( It just got steadily worse til I couldn't run on it at all. Nearly kept going coz I figured there wasn't much running in the 2nd half anyway, but was struggling to walk by then too.
Hey ho, guess i'll be back next year ;)
well I'm bloody glad its over to be honest.
Perhaps training might help for the future.
Think Em is going to be ok, thou her legs seems more black and blue than skin coloured it really is bad. Am amazed she got from checkpoint 4 to 5 at all.Thou she's gutted she had to pull out.:(
Looking forward to sitting in the bath with a beer.:D
Oh yes, THE CRAMP, (came on at checkpoint5, could of been that freezing breeze) almost spoilt my race, the gel seemed to ease it a little, but I'm seriously thinking of seeing a dietician before my next long race, hope fully 3 peaks.
Either that, or I'm gonna stick to shorter races, its too painful and really knocks me back.
Lets hope its not too serious with Emi.
Legs coming too abit now, gonna watch tv all night long. Zzz
Hope Emi is OK - offered her some jelly babies and she said that she was pulling out. Long walk back from there as well.
Steady run for me but managed to finish my first AL. Perhaps need some more distance training if I want to avoid being at the back.
just off for a soak in the bath.
Yep...it's a tough race isn't it. And I'm convinced that that last hill got a lot lot bigger than the times I'd recce'd it :(
Now, maybe it's cos I slowed considerably on the 2nd half, but did anyone else feel absolutely frozen in the cold wind which seemed to pick up about midday...? 40mins in front of the roaring fire of Pendle Inn still didn't warm me up again!
An even bigger thanks than normal methinks for the organisers and marshall. You must have been perishing out there! (And double-cheers Also-ran...my goodness did I need that drink  )
Great to see the fellow-forumers I know today. Well done Swoop (what a time compared to last!) and Daleside (just how did you managed to have a chat with the Wharfedale gang at the top of big end...I was struggling to breath by then!!!)
And Get-well/recovered soon Em. :)
Thanks to Kieran and the Clayton gang. Thanks to Martin for taking so many photos of me around the course. It pays to run close to Martin's Mrs when he has the camera!;)
(Great run Kath. You made me work hard today!)
Hard luck Emma and Helen. Hope you are both ok soon.
How did everyone do?
I know Moo was in the prizes and Calf and Disco Stan were under 3 hours. Jamie wasn't far outside.
I had a good tussle with jodg all the way round, passing each other on every hill.
I did 3.30 (21 min better than last year) but was overtaken by our chairman at the last checkpoint.
Well done Tony.
Thanks to all the marshals, especially Manhar and Bill Smith at CP4/11, for their encouragement.
Great run Swoop
We watched from Checkpoint 4 and the speed that people were coming down that bank was awsome. Lloyd was 3rd over the top and 50 yards in front at the stream. But Karl Gray was the fastest man from top to bottom and made it look easy.
There were all sorts of different lines coming back to 11.
Mrs Stagger clocked 3.40 and she is over the moon.
Get well soon Helen & Emmi and Ali and anyone one who picked up a knock.
Well done to you all. It made a tremendous spectacle to watch.:)
think I managed to knock 15 mins off last years. I also came about 3:40, like staggers mrs and very happy but sore.
Well done to all who ran. Martins Mrs had a really good run (first A long race). She looked very strong all the way round.
Also well done to swoop. I took quite a few photos but I am having problems putting them on the website. I have attached a photo of swoop approaching check point 6.

I hope Emmilou recovers quickly.
Today was the first time I have done the Tour since it moved to a November slot. I was slightly disappointed about how easy is these days to navigate around the course by following the trail of discarded Go Gel wrappers. For people who supposedly enjoy the hills, leaving a trail of litter across them is not acceptable - litterlouts stay home.
On a lighter note, thanks Kieran, four hours of sheer pleasure (well, two and a half, until the boiler blew up) with a tee-shirt thrown in and all for five quid - you don't get value for money like that at Alton Towers.
I managed to get some of the photos on the Clayton website.

Thanks for all the concern and well wishes everyone.
I'm very sore and very stiff this morning but lived to tell that tale. The ladder stile thing over the wall after ckp3 before going down to ckp4 decided to have a fight.
Managed to get the right leg onto rung 2 on the 'dow'n side but then it just went straight down the middle of the stile leaving me bashed, gashed and stranded!!! Managed to haul myself out and limped on for a few strides then negotiate gerronimo.
Thanks for the drink Crumbly and the 'cheers' Manhar - really SHOULD have given up there was in a bit of shock though I think so gave myself a talking to an carried on. Hobbled to the stream, stop started up Ogdens clough then hobbled, swore, cried all the way to check point 5 when I though it really does hurt and I don't think it's just a scratch!
Looked down to see a big egg shape on the shin and the thigh started to swell - not pretty - more the foot sriking the ground and the shooting pains up the leg that were the problem!
Got to ckp6 and had had enough!! Started the long pitiful shuffle to get back.
Met up with Martin - skipping over the fells taking photo's and supporting his Mrs - can I say a HUGE thanks Martin for rescuing me! Must have looked a sorry sight. Don't think I'd have made it back otherwise - cheers!
Also thanks to Michael (AlsoRan) and crew on checkpoint 8 for the coffee and the dressing services!!
Still managed to clock up 14.62 miles on a 16.2 mile course though!! yep really did give up ant the furthest possible point - bloody eejit!
So - after last years recce but no show re chest infection, this years disaster looks like I'll be back same time same place next year!!
Well done to Lloyd on the new record thanks to CLEM and a MASSIVE big up to the lady that made the FAB orange cake!!! I did go and ask her for the recipe!!
Hope all the other injuries (Helen, and all) soon mend and see you all at the next one!
good to meet some forumites ,esp. stick who i kept meeting in the toilets ???.
welldone to all and esp CleM. for a top event.thanks for the run in christine nice to see you again.
A massive well done to everyone who ran yesterday, what an awesome race and a big thank you to all the marshalls for their kind words of encouragement. Hope my training partner Helen gets better soon and of course Emmilou, wish you both well.
Great run by Swoop, you just get faster and faster!
Linda
I'm so glad (or should that be "snow" glad? :p ) that we're not running TOP today. Woke up this morning to a covering of snow and really v cold here.
Nice to meet up with some of you forumites (Manhar, Jamie, Emmilou, DiscoStan). I kept passing Swoop on descents and then he'd breeze past on the climbs. Quite amazing when he takes his handbrake off....! :D
See you at the next one....or Tanky's in a couple o' weeks.
yeah, we were very lucky with weather eh.
At the finish line I uttered, 'Never, Never Again!'
However, this morning my muscles are coming to abit and I'm coughing better and already thinking about how I can improve for next year. Think I've got the bug now, the fell running bug that is?? Cough, Splut!
I know exactly what you mean.... The last climbs are FELL HELL but we keep on coming back for more.... :)
Mudlugger, I probably saw you at some point - did you have a club vest on?
You paint an enchanting picture of yourself...;)
I've enjoyed looking through the photos and think this one is great
http://www.clayton-le-moors-harriers...album=75&pos=4
reliving the ups and downs of yesterday's race on the computer is far better than actually going out into the bitter cold and actually exercising the legs!
No I dont - i know its not me!
I may save him as a my desktop backdrop on the computer, do you think he will mind!
Well yesterday really hurt.
I managed 3hours 4minnutes, I am really chuffed with my times 20mins quicker than two years ago. I thought at the second to last checkpoint (big end) that I could be on for under three hours. Until I came off the hills and hit the long long flat run in to the finish. That was hell and I did not enjoy it one bit, the reservoir path is long and the village is in almost in site.
I think I was close to a few forumites on the run in Karen Nash (may have got that wrong) and a fell pony where hot on my heels as was moo all the way round. Im not sure who the pony was but would love to know.
As for litter louts, yep I gave some guy a warning round the course. His bottle was either dropped or fell and I said to him "I hope that was an accident pal". Felt a bit bad after saying that to him, but after what Keiran said at the presentation made me feel better.
Yesterday handed my rubbish (empty bottle) to the marshalls and they where quite happy to take it off the hill for me, no probs at all.
Well done to all who took part, especially my mate murdoch who did a fantastic time on his first big race.
Hope all who got injured make a speedy recovery and hope Emmi is right for the 50 miler.
Oh met some new forumites yesterday Jodg and sideburns on the summits (cant think where he gets his name from).
Had to push off at the end so could not join Amex for a pint, sorry pal.
Jamie
