Thanks for all the concern and well wishes everyone.
I'm very sore and very stiff this morning but lived to tell that tale. The ladder stile thing over the wall after ckp3 before going down to ckp4 decided to have a fight.
Managed to get the right leg onto rung 2 on the 'dow'n side but then it just went straight down the middle of the stile leaving me bashed, gashed and stranded!!! Managed to haul myself out and limped on for a few strides then negotiate gerronimo.
Thanks for the drink Crumbly and the 'cheers' Manhar - really SHOULD have given up there was in a bit of shock though I think so gave myself a talking to an carried on. Hobbled to the stream, stop started up Ogdens clough then hobbled, swore, cried all the way to check point 5 when I though it really does hurt and I don't think it's just a scratch!
Looked down to see a big egg shape on the shin and the thigh started to swell - not pretty - more the foot sriking the ground and the shooting pains up the leg that were the problem!
Got to ckp6 and had had enough!! Started the long pitiful shuffle to get back.
Met up with Martin - skipping over the fells taking photo's and supporting his Mrs - can I say a HUGE thanks Martin for rescuing me! Must have looked a sorry sight. Don't think I'd have made it back otherwise - cheers!
Also thanks to Michael (AlsoRan) and crew on checkpoint 8 for the coffee and the dressing services!!
Still managed to clock up 14.62 miles on a 16.2 mile course though!! yep really did give up ant the furthest possible point - bloody eejit!
So - after last years recce but no show re chest infection, this years disaster looks like I'll be back same time same place next year!!
Well done to Lloyd on the new record thanks to CLEM and a MASSIVE big up to the lady that made the FAB orange cake!!! I did go and ask her for the recipe!!
Hope all the other injuries (Helen, and all) soon mend and see you all at the next one!

Linda
I'm so glad (or should that be "snow" glad?) that we're not running TOP today. Woke up this morning to a covering of snow and really v cold here.
Nice to meet up with some of you forumites (Manhar, Jamie, Emmilou, DiscoStan). I kept passing Swoop on descents and then he'd breeze past on the climbs. Quite amazing when he takes his handbrake off....!![]()
See you at the next one....or Tanky's in a couple o' weeks.![]()
yeah, we were very lucky with weather eh.
At the finish line I uttered, 'Never, Never Again!'
However, this morning my muscles are coming to abit and I'm coughing better and already thinking about how I can improve for next year. Think I've got the bug now, the fell running bug that is?? Cough, Splut!
I know exactly what you mean.... The last climbs are FELL HELL but we keep on coming back for more....![]()
Mudlugger, I probably saw you at some point - did you have a club vest on?
You paint an enchanting picture of yourself...![]()
