That didn't go so well for Marianne... well, she did give it her all in the road race, which was the main target :) Awesome riding by the Russian girl again, she looked very smooth and strong!
What about the Chinese ;) not content with cheating to win, now they have to cheat to lose. Taking the piss, those pair are going to be f*cked when they get home. Huge loss of face for china, although it's the coaches who should be shot.
On another topic: archery. What a load of shite. I read today that it was only introduced at the seoul games and surprise surprise korea are winning all the medals. File it with horse riding for me.
This has happened many times before I remember in particular a German game in the World Cup played out to a bore draw. Even in the premiership teams have been accused of not talking games seriously because of a more important game coming up. Never mind the second string teams in the League cup.
I agree with the punishment but it is far from a unique event.
I also agree why are horses in the Olympics?
Personally I'd have thought Archery & horsemanship are 2 of the oldest & most traditional Sports to be honest .... I can't say I've ever really watched either & I'm probably basing my opinion on Errol Flynn's Robin Hood, but I'd rather watch Archery & Showjumping than bloody table tennis:w00t:
Do you mean 'Wiff Waff'? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uix9kXIMVRM
I do understand that the ability of the rider is very important. Having said that the best rider cannot win without a very good horse and I would have though the Olympics is about human achievement not a donkeys.
p.s. Why is the plural of donkey "ys" as opposed to "ies" like all the other words ending in "y"? English is a very strange language.
Come on Wiggo !!
WooooooHooooo! Wiggo 1st and Froome 3rd
Ear Wiggo! Ear Wiggo! And so on, and so forth:thumbup:
WOW he struck gold! That man Wiggins is heading for sports personality of the year at this rate......!
Time trialling boring???? Up yours Jackal and Breeze!
A master class in one of the hardest disciplines, brilliant
My sister (Emma Durnford) was not only able to see the timetrial in person but she managed to catch him on camera. I'm so so jealous!

What a good day for medals.
I loved his comment afterwards when he realised he was at the peak, the summit, the unbeatable highpoint of a sporting career. TDF and olympic gold in the same year? In-bl**dy-credible. Equal or perhaps even exceeding a Redgrave (highest point on sporting scale). I am no real fan of cycling but I can readily appreciate the scale of achievement. All dyed-in-the-wool fans must have a very warm feeling now, akin to that which I felt at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony when this ancient Floyd fan (0.75 on the Breeze scale of crustiness) felt pride that his band's music gave the final moments such pathos and drama...in addition to the other reference of the pig proudly shown at Battersea on the opening fly-through of London!
Wow that was exciting! Silver in the Light Fours.
I know nothing about judo but Wow Gemma Gibbons that was Fantastic! At least a silver medal .....
Gold and Silver for Team GB in Canoeing C2
The shooting was pretty exciting especially when Peter Wilson missed the double shot and his lead was cut from 4 to 2 ! Gold for Britain
It's looking like a golden afternoon and the track cyclists haven't even started yet!!!!!
Come on Gemma !!!
Only an Olympic record for the team sprints form GB!!!
A few tickets on sale and available each evening.
Disqualified....Victoria seemed honest and magnamonous (sp) in interview just now. Guess it's like changing baton outside the box in the Sprint relays.

VP was surprisingly phlegmatic - thought she woudl have been much more angry or upset.
It's just like passing the baton outside the prescribed area in running relays.
But apparently it is not usually enforced quite so strictly? Maybe Hanneke can verify that.
From what I understand there is a line, not a zone, that they they are not allowed to pass before, but they are going so fast they cannot see it until it is much too late, and there is no warning on the track itself that they are getting near it - there was talk of a sponge or cone being placed at the side of the track. If it was simply a changeover zone marked at both ends like a 4x100 relay surely they would have said so.
from one report online:
Rob Hayles, Double Olympic medallist and BBC cycling commentator at the Velodrome explained: 'I believe it was Victoria Pendleton taking over too early.
'There are two points on the straight, and like athletics where you have to hand over the baton, you have to change over within a certain place on the track.
'Vicky must not take over before a certain point or after a certain point and they have changed over outside the allocated area on the track.'
