See you there emmi, did you do it last year?

no and am cacking it for this year!!!
It's not that bad:rolleyes: Actually can't remember anything about Hardknott pass, must be a mental block. Seriously though, start off nice and steady and you'll be fine. I went off too fast and died on Whinlatter pass, the rest of it was a drunken blur including a spectacular attack of cramp getting out of the car at services on the M6, much to everyone's amusment:D
I've been doing long cycle rides on a sunday 70 miles plus nearer 80, starting to increase it more and more hopefully. Been on the bike all winter really in all weather so getting there and hoping I'll be ok?
Should do the Cheshire Sportif but the online entry has closed already (says march 21st on the site) but the organiser says take my bike down to enter on the day if there are any places. I'd have entered early but thought I couldn't get there and now can! typical!!
just hoping the gears and more importantly the legs will see me over the hills!
I've a standard double - none of that triple stuff!!
Have a go at this one Emmi, I can trundle down the hill to the start:

I did it on a double 39-27 lowest gear. Got off and pushed on parts of Hardknott but got up everything else. Been doing a lot of singlespeeding 42-18 gearing and feel a lot stronger for it. We shall see come April. Longest ride i did was 70miles last year before it, just tried to include loads of hills. Don't be fooled into thinking Wrynose is the last climb. There's a nasty little climb after it 25% before you drop back into Great Langdale, save some for that;)
Any link to that one Ady??? I've a free day that day and already pencilled in a long ride in the lakes.....
merry....my rear cassette is on a 27 low gear ratio.....all I'm used to really so it's gonna have to do!!!
Done some hilly rides but probably not hilly enough the long ones have been fairly flat just to get used to sitting on the saddle all day but have done some shorter hilly ones, did a ride in January with 3 others and managed not to get dropped so that was quite promising but it's not like I'm in it to win it just like being on my bike!!
That's what its all about, enjoying it. Always helps going out with people who are faster than you, did the Manchester 100 last year with two club cyclists, just dropped me in the last 2 miles but thanks to them averaged 18mph for 100 miles, was chuffed to bits. That was a flat run though. For the Loop though, just go at your own pace and enjoy it, the scenery is exellent too;)
Here you go:

oh. hmmm I'll see. The IM is 112 so I'm just short of doing that on the training rides but find am getting a bit knackered by 80!! :o
Ady I'll have to pop over and draft off ya!
If you get in a group and sit it it is much easier, does not assist on the climbs though!! Drop me a line if you ener, I'll bring a spare energy gel :)
I find the SIS PSP22 is very benificial on longer rides. On training camps when you are doing 80+ every day for a week I also you the REGO.
30 to 40mins:eek:
emm you need way more than that
put some FLAT full coke in your second water bottle , even try getting a third bottle that can attach to behind your seat on your seat post , where your rear light prob sits at the minute.
ive lost count of the timesflat coke has got me out of the le bonk on a long ride.
watch the pro riders and they eat eat eat constantly.
and after 80 / 90 miles you may be needing some salt intake, especially if its hot.
ok.......I stopped off at a corner shop on the last long one for a can of coke!!
Usually use the SIS stuff but it won't be in France hence the power bar stuff it's been ok so far and not had any stomach problems
Have some of the choc REGO but i find I'm not as lean as as a lot of cyclists and if i have too many high carb/protein drinks etc the pounds start to go on.....:(
Stawberry REGO sat in the jacuizzi in the Alicia, Cala Bona after a hard day is ace :). Give it a good hard shake when it's 1/2 full and then top up and shake again - this usually avoids the pink sludge that sticks to the bottom!!
gotta be chocolate or nothing..............nice and cold made with milk....:)
have mine in the kitchen in though:(
Today in the cafe we were discussing the possible merits of taking viagra before a race - err, anyone tried????
can't say I have no!! sorry
isn't viagra what you take to stop yourself falling out of bed?
Took one once, got stuck in my throat, had a stiff neck ever since:eek:

Following the approval of Viagra by the UK's health authorities, the first shipment arrived yesterday at Heathrow airport, but was hijacked on the way to the depot.

Sign in a shop window in Aldershot
