Unless we have a downpour toward the end of the week 110 I'm sure it'll be much drier this year then last ;)

Stolly could do us a ground report Friday evening :)
:D yes my mudometer has had to be re-synchronised. The peak district has given me a whole new outlook on the words peat, bog and mud and I will never, ever think that Plover Hill is the muddiest place on earth again - its not even close.
As for the 3 peaks, I'm hoping to whiz up to Pen y Ghent tomorrow from Langcliffe and I'll feed back after. The thing is if they'd only run the right line off of Pen y Ghent for the race route it would be brilliantly muddy at any time of year but they do insist on running up and down the pennine way. My guess is that it will be as dry as arseholes.
:D
While on the subject of 'greasing up' does anyone else find the fell pony vest bad for nipple chaffage, even on small runs? My advice for ponies is to take a tub of this along........

hard underfoot at Coledale on Sat, likely to be same at 3ps eh. Ouch, not good for my flatfeet.
Here is today's Pen y Ghent trig point ground and air conditions report, taken today at 1600 hours, GMT:
The ground on the main well used paths and cart horse tracks was solid, with plenty of rocks placed strategically to trip anyone not paying the closest attention. With todays mizzle, drizzle and clag, which started fairly low at around the 700 feet mark, the pennine way that at the weekend was rock hard was this afternoon taking a stud (between rocks, rubble and boulders), albeit only just. Off the main paths there's still plenty of mud and bog around if you know where to look - on race day expect to get muddy at the following locations:
Whitber Hill dropping down to Sell Gill pot
The stretch from Long Mires to Nether Lodge
The first gully bit of the climb up Whernside (stay left because the bogs are neck deep further right)
The last 5.5 miles coming off Ingleborough
The trig on Pen y Ghent today:

As for shoes? I'm wearing my walshes..... but I always do anyway :D
Thank you for that Public Service announcement, Stolly.
Wave Harriers for me, I think.
Thanks Stolly for your comprehensive report with photos :D 315s for me and Walshes for it is then :)
Bit of advice please, did the coledale horseshoe on sat and got a big nasty blister on the sole of my foot for my trouble!
what should i do?
a)leave the blister plaster on and just go for it.
b) pop blister and put new plaster on ?
Never mind shoe types, more importantly, does anyone know whether there will be childrens play equipment, bouncy castles etc again? (It may entice my supporters).
Sorry, Three Peaks Newbie Here.
I Looked on the Race Website, but I am Not Sure I,ve understood This Dibber Business.
Every time We go Past a Checkpoint, We Have To Shout The Word "dibber", is That it?
So you've got Compeed / similar on it? If the Compeed is staying put and you can run on the blister leave it alone, don't aggravate it. My experience of trying to replace Compeed is that it takes the whole blister off and you're left with a new (and painful) problem. If the Compeed has been in place since the weekend the chances are the blister has gone down underneath it, and last you want to do is disturb it. I only speak from experience of heel blisters, so take my advice lightly.
Leave the plaster on... is my advice.
agree, if you can currently run on it then leave it, if not, take off the plaster, bleed it with a needle sterlized in a flame, put some antiseptic on it, try and let it dry out as much as possible before the race, then tape on the day (you may have to bleed it again first) using zinc oxide or hypaflix type tape
did anyone use a camelbak/bladder in previous years? ive been thinking of using a bladder instead of the usual pb bum bag with water bottle stuffed in it, which is always a fiddle to get to, any pros or cons?? i struggled with dehydration last year thats why the thought of changing? dave
I've seen plenty of runners especially in 2nd half of field (my environment ;)) using bladders. Probably good idea if hot although 'sloshing' noise they make drives me made.
Got a tight calf and off to physio tonight. Whernside climb is hard enough without a niggling injury
hi egor
there seem to be a lot of drinks stations and the option to send your own drinks to 2 of them (guess partly cos not really any streams on route)
i've done a couple of LDWA with OMM pack with platypus in it -
pros - constant little sips
cons -rucksack gives me a bit more chaffage (also not knowing your about to run out)
you can get bottle out of bumbag when walking/crawling up hill and swap it over at the 2 own drink, drink stations.
haven't tried bladder in a bumbag.
re sloshig noise - squeeze all the air out before closing.
You running ratfink? Or can we expect a surprise tuck-shop on a table somewhere a la last year's Tanky's ;):D
