Had a trip to Tesco's to,I now have mini mars bars and jelly babies:D I feel as prepared as Im gonna be:o
Is this one pre-entry like the Downfall was? Just been granted a pass out. I thought I was on baby duty all weekend so hadn't planned anything.
Matt - don't bother with Mars Bars, just stick to a couple of Jelly Babies every 20 mins or so (advice given to me from several long distance specialists) When did you turn to the 'Darkside' then Matt?
Not sure what the weather will do this weekend, but if it's dry road shoes are a must.
Been with Dark Peak since new year ish,not doing to bad in the local league:) As for the race, whats everyone using?bumbags?or rucksacks?
What about drink?was thinking of taking my 1l platy.
Well.... well... young lad..
(trust the next bairn, will wait for his/her Dad)
Entry on The Day ONLY!
True Race Organiser, can't be there Sunday..
So, I'm going to stand in & out a bit...
VERY, very... fortunately,

Have it all set up for another....
Super super super Trog....
ENJOY...
wish I could too....
(next year I'll kick butt & ankles too... maybe!)
Picked up on this race really late and was wondering if someone can give me some advice?
Was meant to be doing Ennerdale tomorrow but twisted my ankle a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't feel up to 6 hours of rough fell running. What's the terrain like on this race, in terms of ankle turning!?! I've done a couple of runs in the Peaks which have been rough and tussocky, but then also done the Edale skyline route which was pretty ok underfoot (apart from the bogs:)).
If it's not too bad, might come and give this a go. Never been up on the Kinder plateau at all before.
I know!! It is shocking isn't it? Guess I've skirted along the side of it in the Edale Skyline?
Mind you IDP - how many times have you run over the Long Mynd?
Would make it even more interesting if the clag was down for the Trog:D What are the chances of that?
Mr1470 - most of the route is fine
the (roughly 2-Mile) section along the edge of Kinder from where you first get up onto the plateau, past the Downfall and Red Brook to just before Kinder Low where it softens up again, has lots of boulders and is potentially dodgy for ankles.
Mr 1470.....
This is very much a "runners" race, rather than a fell runners race.
Although if the weather is particularly nasty you could go astray and find some nice rough stuff!:D
The going is generally very good, the whole route is runnable (plenty of fast going) and mostly on paths & tracks, with bits of paving too....
I'm sure you will have seen a route map, if not there is one to be found at http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/
See you there
i may well be watching at some strategic point en route
beware when following the locals, ie pennine, dark peak.
my tip is to pick out the KFR. ;)
Thanks for that Luv Shack. It sounds like just what I need at the moment, nothing too difficult underfoot so I won't re-injure the ankle...and a "runner's race" you say? Oh my goodness, I'll have to see if I can remember how you do that:D
I'm hoping to be at Mill Hill-William Clough possibly walking to Down Fall and back area weather permitting[/quote]
Ian,
If you are, and are able to take a few race pics, that would be great :).
If pics do emerge, I'll aske SteveT to post them if poss' on HFR site.
Forecast is looking fair and hopefully not too warm.....
im hoping to be on kit check
i love watching the buggers sweat, haha.
Ok,so,I guess all this rain is gonna make it all a bit more interesting on sunday!
Just been out and bought a new camera as mine was lost in Scotland a couple of weeks back.
I've been fiddleing with it and it has a feature that lets the camera take it's own pictures when you smile at it!!!!!!!
HONESTLY if you switch the camera on and put it in smile :)mode and put it down, if you look at the camera and smile it takes your picture. stunning.
see you all tommorrow Smile please!;)
Good luck all for todays race, enjoy!!!:D
good turnout and good conditions.
great run by darren dunn, lots of other pennine runners , claire also having a great race. loads of forumites, phil whinskill winning the race.
IDP arriving at mill hill with loads of goodies to hand out, making his daughter do all the work( we wont mention what she said about your fell shoes Ian:rolleyes:)
dad has more shoes than mum has handbags:D
nice to marshal a race for a change and a better day for it you could not wish for.
I picked up a few radio tips whilst lstening to the kinder rescue lads.
my final job was
mill hill to luvshack, all runners passed through OVER.
see you next year
oh and Ians camera really does have smile recognition on it
The winner was round in 1.52.18

Hi Andy
I was up at Mill Hill with Daz, Mark and my Daughter Amelia who was handing out jelly babies and water.:D
Took about 150 pictures which I've stuck on a disc, I can send them to the Shack or to Steves if you PM me with his address.
Plenty of forumites up there, the lead three were well clear by Mill Hill.
Perfect running conditions, clear with a cool breeze, one or two runners were even sporting Luv Shacks favorite top.
Matt was going well (as predicted):p as was Jodg. We had a wander down to the Liberator Wreck which seemed to interest my daughter, I've got about 30 pictures of it:rolleyes:
Watch out for the pics
