Mine's also up for grabs as now going ski touring - I don't know how to transfer it though but anyone who can manage this is welcome to it

[QUOTE=IanDarkpeak;318270]What happened Martin, Nothing serious I hope?
Don't think so Ian. Twisted my left ankle coming off Kinder before WH and then my left calf was in pain half way down the descent off WH. Chose the discretion as opposed to valour approach. First ever dnf.:( Seeing the GP tomorrow.
You posted a great time. Well done.:)

did my last proper training for this yesterday - gonna do a bit of speed work next week, then on a four-day walking hol next weekend might fit in some hill reps.
Would dearly like to beat 4 hours but I think that's beyond me - 4.15 more realistic.
I hear the conditions underfoot are more trail rather than fell - that correct?
went over whernside and inglebrough today(sun 11/04/10)
amazing how quickly the ground has dried out,was quite fast,paths/tracks solid.
might wear the new walshes, more for comfort than anything else.
I saw Paul Dugdale out today doing last big run before 3P's yhe was running from Kendal round Kentmere n Horseshoe & return he was hoping for a 3.5Hr plus training run.
thanks all - Mizuno Wave Ascends it is then ...
might also not bother with any fluids as there's a couple of drinks stops.
My injury hasn't improved so it looks like I'll have to sit this one out. PM me if anyone is interested in running it and I'll arrange a number swap.
I'll see you all on the top of Inglebugger ;)
Look forward to it;)
Only time will tell personally I'll carry an empty 400ml bottl drink well at the stations and then take small drinks whilsrt running .5lt in one hit is not very efficient and may give stitch/stomach cramps
:D:D
got ill after my big easter weekend - not the worst tonsillitis i've had but annoying enough - had a full week off running (resting over lovely weaher weekend dagnamit) and still couldn't get rid - stayed of work today and went to the docs - got some penicillin - hope it works :(
looking a lot more abrupt a taper than i would have planned
Hope this mini heatwave :D we're experiencing cools down. Pleased to see the 2 additional water stops. Training seems have to have gone reasonably well for me compared to previous years - will just have to keep everything crossed for the countdown.
Looking at the weather like it has been with no rain for a while looks like the peaks will be dry if the weather keeps up  unlikely i suppose, but if it is really dry ie record breaking conditions do you think the record can be broke i recon it can what do others think ?
no i don,t :D
Probably not. Couldn't have been much drier last year.
In a way the 3 peaks is always a ridiculously fast fell race; I mean is there another 23 and a bit fell race with 5,400 feet of climb thats anywhere near as fast?
Too much of the route is easy running even in wet, wild and slimey weather - the cart track up PyG, the track from Nether Lodge, the road to Ribblehead, the track to the tunnel under the railway, the ridgeline of Whernside, the lane after descending Whernside, the slabbed path up Ingleborough and even much of the 5 or so mile trog in after Ingleborough is easyish running. In addition the initial descents off of PyG and Whernside are also both super fast, especially if you know the proper line off of Whernside. In terms of downhill versus uphill getting on for 16 miles is generally or actually in the downhill direction too.
In fact the whole shebang is a doddle ;) :D
Oh well, I'm not gonna bother doing it now - it was my big challenge for this year rather than suffer the Edinburgh marathon again, and we had a trot round all 3 on Good Friday, so now after reading that Stolly you've made me realise that there's no point really - top man! :D
Right, I was about to go on the wagon until next Saturday, but balls to it, I'm off t'pub - pint anyone? :)
I'm just hoping I can get to the start line this year.
Back problems started around 3 weeks ago, seemed to have almost gone, but then aggravated last Friday.
Unable to walk properly all weekend, let alone run.
I'm still in some discomfort and cannot consider running today - with continued progress I may well be able to test myself on Monday or Tuesday.
But if I get to the start line, it will probably be a recce approach with a time of 5 hours or so on the cards.
